The Experience

Surrounded by acres of woodland and pasture, a blissfully remote Burgundy farmhouse with charming rooms. Retired journalist Lee has transformed her historic home into a mellow countryside retreat. Parquet floors and oak beams endure in light, spacious bedrooms filled with antiques; each has a sparkling modern bathroom. Lee’s bountiful vegetable garden provides much of the produce for superb regional meals eaten communally. Only birdsong disturbs the deep peace, so go slow and laze by the inviting pool, explore the wild gardens, take a siesta… or head out to Vézelay hilltop village or medieval Clamecy. Wonderful.

Reviews

Alex, Buxted

My wife and I and our small dog stayed for one night en route to our house in France. The experience lived up to all our expectations as with all Sawday recommendations.Very pleasant room a superb meal and breakfast and excellent service.Thank you Lee and your team.

mike, midhurst

We were doing a 2+ week tour of central/northern France with emphasis on the wine regions and food...and during our trip we stayed in 5 really great Sawday reccomendations. Auberge de la Tuilerie was the best! Spectacular peaceful location, house, rooms, and the super charming Lee and her assistant Soula. We eat there both nights and were treated to some really well thought-out and delicious food/wine in a great setting. We will return, even if it means going out of our way. Many thanks Lee and best wishes.

Richard, Hong Kong

A fantastic find which I would wholeheartedly recommend. Very comfortable rooms in a tranquil setting. Delicious food cooked by Lee.

marc, Lewes, Sussex

Fantastic, place, food, setting, peacefulness and facilities!

Gert, Beregn op Zoom

A lovely place, very quiet and peaceful. Lee is a lovely host and a perfect cook. We greatly enjoyed the dinners and breakfasts under the plane tree. The rooms are very nice with a good bed (clean!).
