The Experience

Set up the barbecue, take dinner under the pergola and absorb the panorama; it swoops south to the Massif des Maures and ends in the Mediterranean. This spacious, secluded, 18th-century house, its thick walls oblivious to summer’s heat, stands in eight acres at the top of a long track.

There’s masses of space to spread out in two sitting rooms, two terraces, and a summer kitchen so it couldn’t be better for families and those wishing to escape the hubbub. You’ll find peaceful walks among the terraced olives and pines.

Enjoy the hinterland of the Var: the market comes on Tuesdays to medieval Lorgues (5km). Take a coffee in the town’s dappled shade; stop off for wines at Château Les Crostes. And if you fancy a day on the beaches, head off for the Riviera; lovely St Maxime and Fréjus are less than an hour away.

Reviews

Jennifer, Nottingham

Wow… what a place. Bastide Oleander exceeded our expectations. A beautiful house, tastefully furnished inside & out, equipped with everything you need for a truly relaxing and comfortable family holiday. So many highlights to mention; pool a perfect temperature, super comfy sun loungers, space for everyone to seek sun or shade, outdoor kitchen BBQ, variety of areas to dine and relax, boule court & table tennis provided much entertainment, stunning outlook, very peaceful and great for star gazing …. just a perfect place. Thank-you Trikia & Crispin for a wonderful stay. We hope to return.

Sophie, Manfield

We had a wonderful experience from beginning to end. Crispin and Trikia were so helpful and efficient. The villa is charming and was perfect for all ages in our party (4 - 44).

Paul, Stratford-upon-Avon

We have been renting houses in France for 30 years. Bastide Oleander is truly in a class of its own! The location is stunning. The house itself is incomparable! It is equipped with everything you could possibly need. All the equipment is of a very high standard. The beds are comfortable and the overhead fans ensure a pleasant nights sleep. The pool is excellent and there is plenty of solid shade in sight of the pool. An unforgettable 3 generation family holiday.

Emma, London

One of the nicest villas we’ve ever stayed in - incredibly comfortable and well equipped, with the most stunning views and outside areas. Such a beautiful area, too. We have already booked for next year!

Mike, Chipping Campden

We had the most wonderful 2 weeks at Bastide Oleander; three generations enjoying this beautiful house in glorious hot sunny weather. Trikia and Crispin could not have been more helpful, responding quickly to any and all questions we had. The pool and terraces provided long hours of enjoyment. The views are stunning. We loved our late evening meals on the terrace in perfect temperatures. We thoroughly recommend the busy, buzzy atmosphere in Lorgues in the early evening for a pre-dinner drink and some people watching

The neighbourhood

High in the Haut-Var, the house lies midway between St Antonin du Var and the charming market town of Lorgues. Equally close is Thoronet Abbey, one of the three Cistercian marvels of Provence. Sporty types can ride, hire bikes or kayak down the river Argens, just ten minutes away.
