The Experience
A few miles from the bonny town of Westport – with cafés, pubs and traditional Irish music (Matt Malloy from The Chieftains still plays here) – is Sea Meadow, a sleek and soothing space a short hop from the sea. Architects Paul Keogh and Rachael Chidlow designed it with the stunning surroundings in mind; windows are everywhere, and views to the Clew Bay and Achill Island and the famous Croagh Patrick mountain; pilgrimages still happen in July.
Walls inside and out are white, while simple, hand-painted furniture and flagstone floors add to the sense of calm. The kitchen and living space are stocked with all you need and the dining table looks out to glorious countryside; bedrooms are full of light, and share neat shower rooms.
There’s so much to do: a blue flag beach is mere minutes away and world famous waves thrill surfers beyond. There are stables, golf courses and walks galore and some fabulous eateries in Kilsallagh.

This is a great spot whether you climb Croagh Patrick mountain and explore Clew Bay or choose to simply appreciate it all from the comfort of an architect's holiday home. Sea Meadow's large windows let those views pour in to its social kitchen diner. The basics are in place to make this an ideal base to explore Mayo's coastline and mountains, or Killary, Louisburgh and Westport further afield.

Introducing
Rachael Chidlow
Paul and Rachael came to know the area while working on a coastal architecture project. They fell in love with the place and built the two houses (one is their own holiday home) in 1999. They come as often as they can and leave you lots of good tips about what to do and where to eat.
Lovely modern house, with stunning views to the sea and the mountains. Very comfortable and very welcoming to come back to after a day of exploring.
