The Experience

Grapes droop lazily over the terrace, peach and plum trees melt into Apulian countryside, the pool invites a cool dip – this is a glorious Italian getaway. Michele and Mimma will greet you with an aperitif from the beautiful wine cellar or a delicious local cheese to nibble on.

Days are for wandering the streets filled with white houses, cycling the beautiful nature of Murge and visiting Cisternino – voted the most striking historic town in Italy. Wander the wonderful oak forests and fascinating terraces where the horizon meets the Adriatic Sea.

A lazy barbecue on the terrace, a snooze by the shady cedar, a splash in the shallow pool. You can request breakfast or dinner from Michele and Mimma or fire up the pizza oven. They know the best local markets, the must-try eateries in Cisternino town, and the beautiful spots on the Adriatic coast – a short drive.

Reviews

The hospitality, despite being self catering, here is wonderful, it's like being surrounded by a long lost Italian family if you want it to be, the hosts are friendly and relaxed, the trullo is comfortable and has everything you need plus the outside space; the pool, the paved and play area means you can make the most of the good weather months either side of the sizzling July and August.

Trullo Giardino is a beautiful place to stay. Certainly no misnomer, the garden - and surrounding orchard of peach, plum, apricot and fig trees - is quite extraordinary. It's a remarkably peaceful place but only 10 minutes drive, mainly down country lanes, to lovely Cisternino (take a satnav!!). Michele and Mimma are lovely hosts - friendly, generous (with fruit, wine, a homemade tart, a lift to the supermarket, a loan of their Sky Sports card to watch the Euros!) yet unobtrusive. Pool is great and gazebo fabulous for shade and evening barbecues. Recommend wholeheartedly.

We spend a wonderful and relaxing week in Trullo Giardino. The apartment is small but charming, clean and well equipped, and the grounds with the pool are beautiful and spacious. The nearby village Cisternino is well worth a visit. The owners Mimma and Michele were really nice, and we received lots of delicious treats from them during our stay. Thank you! We would very much recommend staying here and would love to visit again.

We spent a really wonderful week at Trullo Giardino. The setting is just perfect – peaceful, relaxed and secluded – while the swimming pool was the highlight for our little girls. The trullo itself is comfortable and cute, the owners are very hospitable and kind (we were supplied with incredible aperitivo, wine, pie and fruit), and the area in general is fascinating: there's a handful of pretty, interesting towns (Ostuni, Alberobello, Cisternino) as well as a beautiful coastline 20 minutes away with stunning beaches. All in all, the perfect holiday! Thank you, Michele and Mimma.

just returned after a lovely, relaxing week in trullo giardino. Beautiful setting, welcoming hosts. And so delightful to sit by the pool, reading a book, glass in hand and watching the swallows dipping into the pool water for a drink and a bath. So many restaurants to choose from - just in Cisternino alone. Lovely fresh produce also available in the friendly local supermercato. Good base for lots of touristics of this region if desired.

Location

The neighbourhood

Park under vines hanging heavy with grapes, follow the path up the steps to the courtyard; you’re home. Hanging poolside will take up a lot of your time - when you’re ready for human interaction Cisternino is a five-minute drive. Wander white alleyways, hidden courtyards and labyrinthine streets. Browse shops and stock up on supplies before pausing for a coffee al fresco in one of the many cafes

Local points of interest from Cosima Vita Semeraro

  • Cisternino is numbered among the most striking historic towns in Italy, and it has been also mentioned in the Slow Food guide.
  • The landscape is very particular: come and discover the beautiful nature of Murge by bike or by walk.
  • You will go through wonderful oak forests and fascinating terraces where the horizon meets the Adriatic Sea: this is our rich and ancient land.
  • The architecture of the old city centre shows perfectly the power and surviving of traditions, winking at Oriental arts
  • Every house is painted white, the predominant color of the town.

Introducing

Cosima Vita Semeraro

Mimma and Michele dedicate their love and time to this property and the attention to detail is second to none. They’re the kind of people that feel like lifelong friends after a natter over a brew. Real Sawday’s folk. Ask them for day trips and eatery recommendations - this is self-catering but they’re happy to help with everything.
