The Experience
A privilege to enter this sun-coloured building with a balcony at each window: every room tells another story documenting the past 450 years of history with family archives and a library of 2000 books – culture-seekers will be filled with joy. You can relax in any of the colourfully painted sitting rooms and absorb the art or read a book, and there is a gallery space downstairs.
The biggest surprise of all is the historic botanical garden, originally designed in 1900 and overflowing with an astonishing variety of flowers, fruit and trees and with lots of hidden places to have breakfast, nap, read or meditate. You breakfast heartily on fresh ricotta, home-baked breads, cakes and tarts, freshly-squeezed oranges from the garden. Spacious bedrooms have gorgeous fabrics and smart, modern bathrooms.
The cottages in the garden have their own kitchens and you are a short stumble from restaurants and shops at this very special oasis.

Location
The neighbourhood
You are in the historic centre of Linguaglossa with its maze of narrow streets, yet it is so quiet! Ristorante Boccaperta is a 5-minute walk and serves local specialities with matching wines. Take a day trip around Etna by train, stopping at villages and wineries, or hike, bike and jeep - best with a guide. The unspoilt landscape, wild flowers, rock formations and views are magical.
Local points of interest from Alfio Puglisi
- Explore the wildest part of Etna with a 2-hours hike among the Sartorius Craters, a button-line of seven extinct craters, and the lava flow that originated during the eruption of 1865.
- Enjoy wine tasting at a local winery and learn more about the heroic viticulture of white, red and prosecco of the Etna wines under a sky full of stars.
- Walk around the picturesque streets of Taormina. Visit the Greek Theatre and enjoy breathtaking views of the Eastern coast of Sicily. Stop for coffee and cannoli at Pasticceria Etna.
- Walk around the river Alcantara in Castiglione di Sicilia near Saint Nicholas Bridge. Visit the Byzantine Cuba, chapel in Sicily, built around the 7th century A.D.
- Enjoy a quiet and peaceful day at the local beach of Marina di Cottone, blue, fresh clear waters surrounded by an Eucalyptus forest and wonderful Mt. Etna.
- Start your day in Catania at the bustling morning market with fishmongers under colourful umbrellas. Visit the Duomo of Catania and then walk to the Monastery of St. Nicholas of Arena.

Introducing
Alfio Puglisi
The house has been in the family since 1649. Alfio, his mother Maria (an architect) and father Alberto (an engineer) together masterminded the incredible restoration and now Alfio has taken over its day-to-day running. His passion for the arts is evident in his development of this centre for contemporary art, culture and dialogue. Artists create their pieces and show them in the gallery space.
Wonderful experience at Palazzo Previtera. We stayed in one of the deluxe rooms overlooking the old garden and the view of Etna was breathtaking. The breakfast was delicious with homemade apricot tart and excellent coffee. True and real Sicilian hospitality at the finest level, thank you to each of the staff for a memorable experience. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and we can't wait to come back next year.
