The Experience

Twist and turn through the mazy streets of blindingly white houses dripping with bright bougainvillea, framed against cerulean skies and say to yourselves, ‘we are on HOLIDAY!’ For the tiny, car-free, carefree island of Panarea is picture postcard perfection. A Picciridda or ‘the little one’ in Sicilian is an enchanting love nest with a blue and white theme: find a bedroom with magnificent sea views from the well-dressed bed and a small but perfectly-formed kitchen with a nice line in tiles and a stunning terrace. It’s here above the rocky cove where you will spend most of your time being captivated by Stromboli puffing away in the distance, stargazing or toasting your good fortune over dinner. Carolina, who is passionate about the island, lives two minutes away and really looks after guests. In August, the island is lively and fun while other months are more relaxed and there’s oodles to do: swimming, boat excursions, mountain walks. Totally dreamy…

Lucilla, Henley-on-Thames

A Picciridda is a small perfectly formed diamond in a paradise : it is very difficult to find a villa for just 2 people so we were thrilled when we came across this villa in Alistair Sawdays website . It a beautifully proportioned , beautifully presented villa with a breathtaking view including the port and the bay on the right and the ever smouldering volcanic island of Stromboli on the left . Carolina is a warm welcoming hostess with A huge affection for this little villa which shows in the way she has lovingly restored it a few years ago . We will definitely return !!

Sunshine and bougainvillea, October in Panarea – quirky, charming and full of late summer delights. Carolina and Luciano are the kindest and most hospitable hosts. I stayed in their charming, ultra-stylish guesthouse; high ceilinged, billowing voile curtains and tastefully decorated in traditional Aeolian style. Best of all, the brilliant white-washed roof terrace and its endless horizon of cobalt blue skies, sea and islands. You will be entranced by the beauty and pace of life on Panarea – a touch of la Dolce Vita in the middle of the Tyrrhenian Sea. An idyllic place to stay.

We spent a week as a family of 4 at the guest house. It was wonderful, we were really impressed with the level of service, our sheets and towels were changed. Carolina and her husband were really helpful and friendly and booked tables and taxis (golf buggys) for us. Panarea is a beautiful place during the day and at night when the stars light up the sky. We would recommend this place to anyone looking for somewhere magical to stay

We stayed at the guest house as a family of 4, and were very impressed with the high level of service, the friendliness and helpfulness of the owners, and the comfort of the accommodation. Our rooms were cleaned twice during our stay and sheets and towels changed which was wonderful. Panarea is beautiful and the views were stunning, even at night as the stars are very bright. Carolina and her husband are kind and helpful hosts and booked taxis (golf buggy's) and restaurants for us. We would like to visit again and would thoroughly recommend it.

After the stress and excitement of planning our wedding, the peace and tranquility of A Picciridda was just what we needed for our honeymoon. The house itself is all about the view and made it very difficult for us to move away from the comfort of the terrace. It has been restored sympathetically and to a high standard. Clean, well appointed with a simple but well equipped kitchen. Crisp, smart linen with a cleaner twice a week. All makes this a perfect place to relax and enjoy this beautiful island. Carolina was a great host/translator/tour guide! All in all a perfect retreat!
