The Experience
Drive through avenues of oak trees, past olive groves, to reach this heavenly retreat in the Umbrian countryside. A cluster of beautifully restored stone houses stand on a hilltop surrounded by ancient cypresses. Owned by the Wirth family of luxury hoteliers, this hamlet is an exquisitely stylish place for couples, families and groups to stay. Many of the buildings date back to the 1400s, and include an ancient monastery. There are five cottages, while the deconsecrated chapel is now an elegant dining room and wedding venue with an oak table and frescoes of cherubs. Houses have terracotta-tiled roofs, sturdy old beams and big windows overlooking forested hills. Interiors are charming and refined; colourful kilims are spread across tiled floors, while you’ll find antique and artisan furniture throughout. Every living room has a working fireplace, beds are wonderfully comfortable and bathrooms are decorated with Deruta ceramic tiles. Kitchens have everything you need to make self-catering a joy. You can cool off in the sparkling pool or practice tennis with on-site staff to help. The views are spectacular…

The neighbourhood
Local points of interest from Sonia Ceppitelli
- Situated between Umbria and Tuscany (just 5 km away) Borgo di Bastia Creti allows you to visit the most beautiful towns of these amazing Italian regions
- Bastia Creti is situated in the Niccone Valley (from a small river flowing in the area) famous for its tranquillity and rolling hills
- the closest big town (Umbertide) is just 13km from Borgo di Bastia Creti and it is perfect for any need you might have: there are several grocery stores, a lively weekly market on Wednesday a smaller farmer's market on Saturday
- Montone a tiny, lovely mediaval hilly village, part of "the most beautiful historical Italian towns" is just 18km from Bastia Creti. In case of a wedding it is a pefect location for a civil ceremony.
- At a distance from 1,5 up to 8 km there are many lovely restaurants and one of them has a winery at its back and offers a wine tour+dinner at an amazing quality/price level
