The Experience
A super city base in one of Bristol’s fine Georgian houses with, without a doubt, the best views in Clifton.
Four sunny, traditional bedrooms have a welcoming glass of sherry and homemade cake; one is at the top of the house; the room on the lower ground floor overlooks the large, leafy garden. Simon and Joanna give you a good, leisurely breakfast with a choice of eggs anyway, local sausages and bacon, pancakes, fresh fruit, compotes with star anise, homemade jams and marmalade.
Head down the steps and catch a ferry to see the city from the water, walk into Clifton for independent shops and plenty of bustling cafés and restaurants, cross the Suspension Bridge and into Ashton Court for park and woodland walks – and the balloon festival in the summer. Return to the elegant drawing room with its large veranda to take in those views of the Avon Gorge.

My wife and I stayed overnight to go to a concert. We had a wonderful stay in a room with views overlooking the Avon Gorge. The location was perfect and we were made to feel very welcome. A lovely breakfast after a good nights sleep.

Three of us stayed with Joanna and Simon in early February for an event in Bristol. Everything was wonderful. From arrival, parking, keys, choice of rooms etc it was all very straight forward. The house is beautiful and has stunning views. The rooms are spacious and warm. Breakfast was lovely with plenty of delicious choices. Simon gave us lots of help in which way to walk and the following morning to drive tour various destinations. It could not have been more perfect. We have used many Sawdays over the years and this is by far the best we have ever stayed in.

Excellent B&B - one of the nicest we have stayed at. Large comfortable rooms with lovely views of the garden and across the Avon Gorge to the Mendips. Welcoming cake and sherry in the bedroom. Delicious breakfast. Good restaurants and interesting walks around Clifton and down the hill to Bristol centre.

Lovely B&B to base yourself from when visiting Bristol for the first time - and a great location to choose if you are visiting for The Balloon festival. Simon is full of good ideas of what to fill your day with and very good at giving a steer of best times to be at places & events. The house is a delight and the breakfast varied and scrumptious - would thoroughly recommend a stay

Location
The neighbourhood
You're in the heart of Clifton and you can walk to everything. For dinner/drinks, try The Ivy, or tapas at Bar 44, both a five-minute walk. Bristol Zoo, the University, Park Street and the Cathedral are all about a 20-minute walk. Walk down the hill and catch a ferry over to SS Great Britain, theatres, Arnolfini and Watershed art centres/cinema and heaps of bars and restaurants.
Introducing
Simon & Joanna Fuller
Simon and Joanna moved to Bristol in 1976 and have lived in this house for over 40 years, so they know the city inside out and are happy to advise on what to see and where to eat. Simon was in the wine and whisky business, Joanna used to be a teacher. They both love art and are keen collectors; Joanna plays tennis and likes to cook.
Wonderful stay. Beautiful house. Lovely large rooms. Perfectly positioned for a stay in Clifton Bristol. Lovely breakfasts. Engaging hosts. Thoroughly recommend.
