The Experience

This beautifully-converted barn is marked on the 1840 tithe map but is considerably older than that. Spread out in the living room in front of an open fire (logs in the basket), play board games, read books or watch telly, cook in the sociable kitchen, eat at a farmhouse table. Order the night before and you can have supper waiting for you – just pop it in the oven – after a hard tramp on the Coast Path or on Bodmin Moor.

In summer the outdoor pool is a lively spot, children will be in heaven, and you can book treatments, float in the spa pool, or retreat to your own garden which wraps around two sides of the house – it’s secluded and has stunning views of the Looe Valley’s patchwork fields and the river below. A welcome pack includes homemade biscuits and freshly-picked flowers, you can ride, play tennis or send the children to forest school in the holidays.

Warm evenings in the garden with the barbecue lit will be magical.

Reviews

Geoff's Barn is a really lovely cottage in an idyllic setting with well maintained and private garden. The cottage has great views of the Looe valley river. I highly recommend the accommodation which is inviting and comfortable with a lovely inglenook fireplace. It has both character and charm with modern appliances!

Frances, Harpenden

Another character barn at Treworgey - an ideal spot for families as there's so much to do for children! You may never need to leave, but if you do, there are lovely cafés and beaches to explore nearby, as well as beautiful walks that leave straight for the door. Gather your clan and enjoy.

Location

The neighbourhood

You're at the bottom of a track with all the buildings gathered like a small hamlet. You're still fairly high up and there are lovely views across the valley and glimpses of the river. Start good walks from the door and find pocket maps to guide you. Bodmin Moor is 20 minutes away and you can join the South West Coast Path at Looe, where there's a good pub, shops, restaurants and sandy beach.

Local points of interest from Holly & Andy Kyte

  • Walk through the country lanes to our lovely local village pub, The Plough, for delicious food and local ale and cider. Dogs and children welcome!
  • The picturesque fishing town of Looe is just 3 miles away. Stroll through narrow streets and step through ancient tiny doorways into atmospheric restaurants and pubs, take an ice cream to the safe, sandy beach or get your crabbing lines out on the pier.
  • A short drive away you can test your nerves at the action-packed Adrenaline Quarry where you can fly over a huge lake on a zip wire, brave the free-fall swing or leap from high platforms into the quarry lake! A brilliant way to keep teenagers entertained.
  • Inland from Treworgey you can explore the wild and wonderful Bodmin Moor, where dramatic tors rise above windswept expanses of springy grass, gorse and heather. See the old mine engine houses and meet the wild ponies or go wild swimming in an old quarry.
  • Less than 1/2 an hour's drive will bring you to the beautiful town of Lostwithiel, famous for it's array of quirky antiques shops. Meander through the pretty streets and pick up interesting keepsakes from the friendly shopkeepers.
  • Boat trips from our local town of Looe include glass-bottomed boats that glide around Looe Island while the skipper entertains you with local folklore, or mackerel fishing trips out to see from which you can bring back your catch for the barbecue.

Introducing

Holly & Andy Kyte

This is a family business and still a working farm. The outbuildings, all in ruins when Linda and Bevis bought the farm over 40 years ago, have slowly been converted into cottages. Daughter Holly is front of house now with her husband Andy, but Linda is still Head Gardener and Bevis runs the farm. One of their aunts does the home cooked food and cousins help out too. You're well looked after.
