The Experience
A super spot for a car-free holiday, the London to Penzance line is fast and reliable and the cottage, snuggled in a terrace in the centre of town is a five-minute walk from the station. The Lilliputian entrance hides a spacious interior with plenty of room for four: the open-plan kitchen/diner makes cooking and chatting easy. Stock up at any of the excellent foodie places nearby or use your voucher at The Allotment Deli on Fore Street.
St Ives has plenty to do year round: the Tate, Barbara Hepworth’s studio, and countless smaller places to discover. There are no fewer than five sandy beaches within walking distance of the cottage: Porthmeor is wildly popular, try the quieter Bamaluz beach to escape the crowds.
Back at base, both light, bright bedrooms have huge beds; one can be split into a twin and has space for a third if you need it. There’s a sun trap courtyard garden for evening drinks and a cosy living room with TV, books and games for wet days.

We absolutely love St Ives and even got married there this Spring. We've stayed in lots of places over the years but this really is the nicest by far. The cottage is in a fantastic spot - right in the heart of the town but really quiet too. The standard of all the fixtures and fittings is really top quality - we loved the sofa so much we've ordered one for our own home. The rooms are all really spacious and have everything you could need. We will definitely be booking to stay at The Little House again next year.

What an idyllic break! Location is fabulous, but the care taken by the host Gilly made it extra special. Everything has been chosen with such thoughtfulness to ensure that the cottage is cosy and homely, yet elegant and luxurious. Every item from crockery to cushions and cosy blankets feels perfectly right and we were able to settle in and feel at home as soon as we arrived. The wonderful information about restaurants and attractions made planning so easy too. You can feel the love that has gone into this cottage and it makes being a guest there feel a real privilege. Can't wait to stay again.

Location
The neighbourhood
St Ives thrums in the summer but is less frenetic at other times, so if you want to avoid the crowds try spring or autumn for a visit. As well as the obligatory beaches, Tate St Ives and Barbara Hepworth gallery and sculpture garden, the town has always been a haven for artists and creatives and you'll find a myriad of small galleries and interesting shops. The foodie scene is good here too.
Local points of interest from Gilly Porter
- With the beautiful town of St Ives on the doorstep you will never be short of something to do whatever time of year you choose to stay at Little House.
- The cottage is situated a few yards from the South West Coast Path with stunning walks in either direction.
- There is a wide choice of restaurants within walking distance but if you want to escape the crowds why not try going slightly further afield to Hayle or Penzance using local taxi’s or the excellent public transport links.
- If you’d rather cook at home we offer a well appointed open plan kitchen/dining room which is a pleasure to cook and eat in - or a south-facing courtyard garden for al fresco eating. Both the indoor and outdoor tables comfortably seat 6.
- In colder months the cosy lounge at the front of the cottage is the perfect place to snuggle down in front of the woodburner with comfortable seating and smart TV.
- If it’s water sports you’re looking for you can surf from Porthmeor beach or go kayaking or stand up paddleboarding from Porthminster beach. Lessons are available in all sports but you need to book early in high season.

Introducing
Gilly Porter
Gilly fell in love with St Ives when she first visited over 10 years ago. When the opportunity came up to buy Little House, she jumped at the chance, and then spent a couple of years renovating it with care and attention. She still loves St Ives and visits whenever she can. A local company cleans and manages the cottage so if you have a problem or need a hand you'll contact them.
This cottage is centrally situated between, Porthminster Beach and the Harbour. So an excellent position close to all amenities. The cottage is ideal for 4 people sharing and is of a very high standard. Immaculately clean and also has a small private terrace to the rear. It’s near to parking at the station but obviously depending when you go as the car park does become full.
