The Experience

Reached via a narrow winding road, the unspoilt village is perched on a plateau between two river gorges, with a church, a green, a pond. A tempting plan, after a day’s striding up hill and down dale. As for the barn, it’s a 1720s gem, sympathetically revived, warm and spacious inside and full of quirky pieces. You enter the sitting room (once the cowshed) with its flagged floor, now restored; there’s a cream sofa facing the log-burner, original shutters at windows and farming artefacts on the walls. A separate dining room leads to a super kitchen, then a patio with stunning views; where pigs once huddled, wood worktops and a gleaming range cooker now stand. Your cosy low-ceilinged bedroom is at the other end, and continues the country theme. Guide books, maps, jigsaws, a basket of logs, a hamper of goodies… welcome touches all, and there’s more fun to come at the top of the outside stair: snooker, a piano, a wood-burner, and floor-to-ceiling books!

Reviews

We have stayed three times now and plan to return. It's a lovely and comfortable house surrounded by beautiful countryside. We enjoyed the snooker table, piano and sitting outside surrounded by the wonderful garden, listening to curlews and little owls. Ruth and Donna ensure there is everything you need to enjoy your stay. We thoroughly recommend it!

If you are seeking a stunning location and the most comfortable place to stay, Hope Farm House Barn has it all. A lovely cottage to return to after a long wet day out hiking. Our time spent in the Peak District was even more special staying here. If you like Portmeirion china you won’t be disappointed. Thank you so much.

Lovely, peaceful, comfortable barn with walks from the door, we did Dovedale and the Manifold Trail. Lovely outside space with sunset views. Would highly recommend

From the moment we walked through the door we felt at home. Everything you could want is here at this delightful barn. Warm and cosy on a very chilly December week, scenerey is stunning and the area is tranquil and relaxing. We've had a thouroughly enjoyable time and would love to visit again.

The real world is forgotten after no time at all at Hope Farm House Barn. The simple pleasures of life are what this place is about... stunning views, beautiful outside spaces to sit, and inside, that warm and cosy feeling as you snuggle up by the log burner. Not to mention all of the entertainment on hand...books everywhere, or a jigsaw, snooker or piano if that's your thing.

My wife and I have just returned from a wonderful week at Hope Farm barn. The accommodation is really rather special and the location is superb. Excellent walks are available right from the front door. Sitting on the terrace, enjoying a relaxing drink, and watching the sun set over Wetton Hill was just so relaxing. Ruth is extremely helpful and responsive. A special mention for Claire from Carver Cottage Kitchen who catered for us on one evening.

Roderick, Nr. Banbury

An exquisite gem - everything about it has been provided with such care & to the highest standards to meet guests needs. The accommodation lacks for nothing. Ruth & Donna go out of their way to provide top quality experiences including a personal welcome pack. The Barn is surrounded by delightful gardens & outside seating areas for total relaxation in a very peaceful setting. The charm of the place draws guests back - this was our 4th stay & we will definitely be back! There is nowhere better to stay in the Peak District!

I booked the barn for my husband's surprise birthday treat. It had everything I wanted, so clean and comfortable. The top room is an added bonus with a wood burner and snooker table great for a rainy day! The welcome basket was perfect for us, thank you Ruth. The location is good for walking and sightseeing. I would definitely recommend to family and friends and we hope to come again. Mary

We had a lovely relaxing stay at Hope Farm House Barn. The cottage has plenty of space, but is also cosy and welcoming with everything you could need. The location is perfect with walks on the doorstep but plenty of places to eat and drink nearby.

Eleanor, Aylesbury

Our second stay in your lovely, cosy, peaceful barn. We found even more fantastic walks and had good weather too. The walk along the Dove into Hartington and return through Narrowdale was our favourite, helped by tea and cake midway! We just love the area and the attention to detail found in the barn. The upstairs room with snooker table and comfy leather sofas is an added bonus - I even managed to finish the jigsaw I worked on in September! Thank you Ruth and Nick.

Hilary and Chester, Dartmouth

A lovely, relaxing few days in your perfect cottage. Love the attention to detail, the furnishings and fittings. Wonderful walks right on the doorstep and we had amazing weather, sunshine every day. The icing on the cake was our meal at The George tonight, lovely atmosphere and fab food.

Gail and Les, Hitchin

We visited the lovely Hope Farm House barn over the new year, 2017/8. The accommodation is comfortable, cosy and welcoming for a winter visit, with wood burning stoves and efficient heating and the bonus of a full size snooker table and comfortable library upstairs! The barn is perfect for a couple looking for space and privacy, and ideally located with excellent access to lovely walks in the Peaks District from the door. Also nearby are the villages of Alstonefield with a great pub to eat in and the lovely Hartington with a great village store. We will certainly be back!
