The Experience

In a quiet green valley between moor and coast, find this medieval barn conversion (mentioned in the Domesday book) in 13 acres of shared orchards, woodland and fields. A Devon cream tea hamper will be waiting for you with the full works (scones, cream, jam) plus wine and cider.

This is a place for active families. Tramp through the woods (wellies provided), dam the streams, make dens. You can sit on your own gazebo with a glass of wine and keep an eye on the dedicated play area. The highlight is the stunning indoor pool, looking out over a terrace to rolling countryside through plate glass.

Hike straight from the door, borrow a kayak or bodyboard and get to the beach in 15 minutes, explore this charmed corner of South Devon. Return with something local to sizzle on the barbecue as the stars come out.

Reviews

Storm Agnes hit South Devon during our stay, so the pool and warm pool house proved a wonderful retreat. The Cider Barn is cosy yet has plenty of space, and the location is superb for exploring South Hams. There is plenty of outdoor space too. Milly and James want their guests to be comfortable and we certainly were!

We had a great holiday in the Cider Barn. It is a great location for getting around the South Devon sights and many great beaches. The pool is great, though, the pool itself was quite cold. The accommodation was lovely and comfortable. Would definitely recommend it

Our home away from home. Lower Grimpstonleigh is an amazing place run by fabulous people. We should probably keep this to ourselves, but Milly and James really deserve a good review (; 10 out of 10. See you again, all the best from the Netherlands, Renske.

Had a lovely time in Lower Grimptonleigh, - Milly and James are very helpful and relaxed, the old barns are refurbished with skill and taste and a feeling for what you need, with the stunning pool next door. A wonderful place to get away from it all, the nearest town is a ten minute drive away.

Joachim, Bad Krozingen

We had a wonderfully relaxing Easter week staying in both barns Cider and Top with our daughters and their families. All the children 6 -14 loved the pool as did we 'grown ups'. The gardens full of the most amazing primroses, as are all the banks, in surrounding lanes. Beautiful location so quiet just bird song and very happy children. We didn't get to meet both Milly & James as they were on their own holiday but they couldn't have been more helpful beforehand.

Gillian, Hitchin

We have just returned from staying in the Cider Barn and have had a wonderful, relaxing break. Such a great location, so peaceful and beautiful. The new owners are lovely and very welcoming. This was not our first stay and won’t be our last. We love the barns, the pool, the area.

Annabel, Taunton

We had a great week at Cider barn. Millie and James couldn't have been more accommodating, great hosts and dog friendly. The pool barn right next door is such a bonus! This is a fabulous location for exploring the South Devon area with some fantastic beaches and towns all within a 30 minute drive. We would definitely recommend it, in fact my friend loved it so much she has booked to return at Christmas /New Year with her family.

Jan, Stow on the Wold

Lovely peaceful location, great facilities and welcoming hosts!

Tamsin, Cardiff

A delightful, peaceful place. Milly and James were dedicated to providing a service we were not disappointed in.

Angela, Berkhamsted

We had a lovely time staying at The Cider Barn. There is everything you need to make your stay comfortable. The kitchen is well equipped and there is a welcome hamper on arrival which is very generous. Our children ages 5 and 9 had a lot of fun in the swimming pool and visiting local beaches.
