The Experience

Inspired by time spent in Italy, chef Hugo and artist Olive set up their own agriturismo right here in Devon. Check out the polytunnel, chickens and pigs – they’re passionate about food. Bread is baked daily, they make their own charcuterie and pickles, nothing is wasted. Choose from simple suppers or a four-course seasonal set menu. Breakfast, served at big, sociable tables, is a special affair too.

This bright, eclectic house has five bedrooms, plus one in a separate annexe and another in a cabin with a private terrace (both dog-friendly). All are warm and colourful. Settle down in front of the fire in one of the sitting rooms after a jaunt around the countryside (ask if you’d like a picnic), browse the ‘Walk Book’ in your room for ideas, or stroll through the valley to The Kingfisher in Colyton for lunch.

Heaps to do here: knock some balls around the tennis court, dip in the heated outdoor pool (open April-September), head down to the Jurassic Coast for fossil hunting and beaches.

Reviews

Glebe House is as beautiful as the photos portray! We spent our time swooning over the interiors, admiring the artwork and soaking up the rural setting before enjoying freshly baked treats sent straight from the kitchen and homegrown seasonal produce in the Garden Room. The delicious breakfast will certainly set you up for a day exploring the nearby beaches and local walks from the doorstep.

Nicole, Bristol

A beautiful guest house filled with hand-picked artwork and surrounded by idyllic countryside. There are wonderful walks from the door, pretty Beer beach nearby and homemade seasonal food and firesides to return to.

Introducing

Hugo & Olive Guest

Hugo grew up here, his parents ran Glebe House as a homely, welcoming B&B for years. In 2020, with Glebe up for sale, Hugo, Olive and baby Rufus decided to upsticks from London, and after a six month renovation opened their guest house and restaurant in early 2021. They live in the cottage across the courtyard; Hugo heads up the kitchen while Olive and Maisy are front of house.
