The Experience

Back in the 1830s, this neat white cottage in a sweet North Devon village was the post office. Its thick stone walls have seen centuries of history but inside it’s bang up to date. Crisp, clean and uncluttered, it’s a soothing place to kick your shoes off and relax.

Walk to a little shop for croissants in the morning, on dry days you can breakfast in the pretty garden. Walk to spectacular Morte Point, explore the rock pools at Rockham Beach and dine on fresh seafood in Mortehoe’s pubs.

This is an all-weather coastal bolthole. Walk straight onto the coastal path or down to the beach, return to a cream tea by the cosy wood-burner. Watch the stars come out from the garden on balmy nights in summer.

Reviews

Ross, Hemel Hempstead

From the moment we made the booked we knew it would be great. Rich kindly accepted a late booking and we headed out to the cottage in Morthoe. Excellent location, a stones throw from great walks, the pub, shop and takeaway (seasonal open times). The cottage is beautful throughout, spacious, modern, well lit and comfortable. We would have loved to stay longer. Cannot recommend this place enough, perfect for couples and families.

Michael, London

Old Post Cottage is a lovely home from home, in the tiny village of Mortehoe. The cottage has two separate bathrooms with showers and toilets, modern kitchen and own garden. A welcome pack of biccies and milk in the fridge was greatly appreciated. The cottage is a great base for exploring the beautiful countryside, everything is close by, a bus stop is handily placed for sightseeing trips.Great for us as we don't have a car and could plan days out. Lundy Isle is magical. Wonderful walks, on your doorstep, Morte Point, and hidden gem Rockham Beach. Old Post Cottage is the perfect place to stay

Penny, Banbury

The perfect place to stay in magic Mortehoe — an old cottage in the heart of the village, beautifully fitted out with all the home from home comforts you could ask for. We'll definitely be back.

Michael, Bielefeld

Old Post Cottage is unique in many ways: an old building with a very modern and clean touch, very nice own garden and in the center of Mortehoe - the perfect base for relaxing and feeling at home. We will be back in North Devon for sure...

John, Bristol

A delightful location for a holiday. Clean, comfortable, and with good facilities, it is very well run by the owner, Emma Knight. Excellent base for walking, with beautiful cliff walks and breath-taking views. Close to Woolacombe Beach - walkable but with a challenging hill if walking back to the cottage. Strongly recommended and we have enjoyed visiting Old Post Cottage for over ten years.
