The Experience
Oak doors open to a stylish contemporary interior, filled by light and space.
Under-floor heating keeps the slate floor warm on cool days, while the high ceiling helps the airy feel. A lime-washed staircase leads to a mezzanine bedroom of uncluttered simplicity with long views across the valley – and there’s a day bed for an extra guest. Stay on a B&B or self-catering basis, with breakfast ingredients delivered as you wish: local eggs and honey, organic milk, jams, good bread, muesli, granola, fruit and juice.
Beautiful walks start from the door – join the Cotswold Way, or cover the three miles to Laurie Lee’s favourite pub, The Woolpack Inn, Slad. If you fancy a spin, Stroud is a ten minute drive, with its famous farmers market every Saturday. Cheltenham and Gloucester are close, too. In summer, open the tri-fold doors and let the sun pour in; in winter, relax on the sofa, play games, read, or settle in to watch a film on the telly.

Sara is an excellent host who is both proactive and responsive. Her place is a very relaxing and private and is in an excellent location both to the village amenities and for accessing local walks. Sara provided extremely useful advice and guidance for local amenities. The availability of on site parking is fabulous as these small Cotswold villages are very difficult to find parking otherwise. We highly recommend staying with Sara.

Location
The neighbourhood
Painswick is a beautiful Cotswold stone village dating back to the 1100s. It was made prosperous as a wool town and is known as 'The Queen of the Cotswolds’. Pubs, restaurants, a cafe and convenience store are within easy walking distance. The Royal Oak is a five-minute walk, The Falcon and The Painswick Hotel are both a ten-minute stroll. The Cotswold Way passes through the village. The artistic town of Stroud is three miles away where there’s a train station and famous farmer’s market. The Regency town of Cheltenham, for horse racing and festivals, is ten miles.

- There are many excellent centres nearby if you are interested in antiques, vintage and retro furniture and collectables, I have lots of contacts and information!
- If the weather is bad there is a television, board games, books and magazines and plenty of space to spread out and relax.

Introducing
Sara Kirby
Sara has lived in Painswick since 2004. She has a keen interest in the countryside, architecture, walking, gardens, antiques, art and the history of the area. She loves to share her local knowledge of interesting places that are off the beaten track. Sara is an interior and garden designer and has put these skills to use when converting Mayfield Studio from the outbuildings that adjoined her house. She sources quality produce for breakfast, flowers and toiletries and provides guide books, maps, DVDs, board games and complimentary treats.
Well, what a pleasure! In the heart of the village but hidden quietly around the corner. Well appointed and stylishly done. And fresh flowers too! If you don't feel comfortable and welcome here, you never will. We were truly able to relax and take a break. Thank you so much Sara.
