The Experience

High ceilings, stone floors and chunky beams show off ancient roots, but it’s been converted by a conservation architect so you’ll be cosy with ground source heating and there’s masses of room. Cooking in the farmhouse kitchen will be a breeze and the table can be extended to fit 24 if you’re a larger party – book a further two cottages on site and a chef can be hired if you don’t want to do the cooking.

Large French windows lead onto the terrace with another huge table for al fresco meals, a built-in barbecue, the greenest lawns and far-reaching views over stunning countryside – open a glass of something chilled while children charge about safely. Find fluffy gowns, spoiling bedding and organic soaps and lotions upstairs – the little Wagon Shed has its own bedroom for escapees.

Swim in the heated pool or jump in the lake; play tennis, pool or table tennis. Emma can organise tailor-made experiences like painting, yoga and Pilates.

Reviews

This stunning retreat could be straight from a design magazine with its snazzy interiors, great eco credentials and spoiling facilities. Enjoy a dip in the heated pool, soak in the hot tub under the stars, walk to a pub or wild swim in the lake. Great for extended families or groups of friends, Marris Barn and the Wagon Shed are a tonic for the soul. This is the perfect sanctuary.

This is our second time of staying at the property. We booked Maris Barn & the wagon shed. We love it! Everything from comfiness of the beds, to instructions on how to use the facilities! Everything is catered for. We were a group of 16 friends and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It’s a great place to escape & soak up some countryside air. Pool, sauna & hot tub all added to the experience! Thanks for having us - we would definitely recommend! ❤️

Sophie

Just beautiful! Marris Barn is extremely well equipped and the facilities have been meticulously thought through. There were 10 of us and 3 dogs and at no point were we under one another’s feet. Plenty of areas to be quiet in; as well as open plan living for group activities. The views of the sunset from the property are stunning. Just the best time in a fabulous property.

Richard

Our stay at the property was the best holiday we spent in the last 2 years the whole family had a great time, Thank you all at marris barn & wagon shed.

Anthony

What a perfect place to celebrate my 70th Birthday with three generations of our family, some travelling from Australia for the occasion, ages ranging from 3 to 75 years! Everything was equipped to a very high standard, we didn’t want for anything and the pool, spa tub and games room were enjoyed by all! Would definitely recommend this beautiful Barn to anyone, thank you!

Location

The neighbourhood

You're on the outskirts of Thorganby village and the views are superb. Walk and cycle from the door, stock up in little Caistor (six miles) with its quirky shops, butcher and bakery. Market Rasen with its famous racecourse is less than 10 miles and you'll find a good farm shop nearby which specialises in Lincoln Red beef. Louth has a very good market on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

Local points of interest from Emma Milligan-Manby

  • Explore the plentiful array of artisan food shops in Louth, including a visit to our local gin distillery.
  • Absorb yourself in the history of Lincoln at the Castle and Cathedral and challenge yourself to walk up the famous Steep Hill.
  • Have a fun day out at Market Rasen Races.
  • See how traditional smoked haddock and salmon is cured by our very own Thorganby fish smoker.
  • Enjoy lazy days watching the local wildlife, including owls and deer.
  • Book a local chef to produce a delicious celebratory meal.
