The
Experience

Welcome to four beautiful old cottages (once a cartshed, all in a row), strolling distance from a duck pond and magnificent Sharrington Hall. The largest cottage is Shell, its colours a soothing blend of oyster, silver and taupe. The smallest is Seal, all muted greys and driftwood touches; with a charcoal grey roll-top by a dove grey four-poster, it is bliss for romancers. Sky, a symphony of blues, lavenders and greys, is dog-friendly; Samphire’s palette reflects Norfolk’s marshes – go pick some samphire for dinner! Expect generosity at every turn: each cottage comes with immaculate white towels and a log-burner for winter, and all (bar one) a bathroom for every room. Oak or painted floorboards are topped with rugs, custom-made kitchens have large range cookers, coir carpeted stairs lead to walk-in showers and delicious crisp beds – what could be nicer? The setting is brilliant, half a mile from an award-winning deli and close to all that North Norfolk has to offer. Holkham Beach is 11 miles, Blakeney and Cley four, Holt just two. Restaurants, galleries and antique shops abound. Special.

We have visited the North Norfolk coast numerous times, but Christmas 2013 in Seal Cottage at Sharrington Hall was the perfect holiday - the location, the hospitality, the furnishings and decoration, the comfort. A well equipped kitchen, a big fireplace with wood stove, a comfy informal four posted bed, an in-bedroom bath, a separate shower room all add up to the ideal 'home away from home! Upon our arrival for the Christmas break, we turned on the light, to be greeted by a beautiful 'minimal' tree along with a pannatone and a bottle of prosecco. Thank you! We'll be back ….

This was our second stay, and this time we brought the whole family, hiring three of the four cottages for a birthday celebration. We had three generations and two continents represented in our group but there was complete consensus - this really is a perfect place to get away. The wonderful weather played its part, but the chic designs of the cottages and the sense of luxury contributed immeasurably to a memorable long weekend.

Just had a fantastic late summer weekend in Norfolk, staying at Seal Cottage. What a find! It was quiet and peaceful, which we were looking for after a busy few months. Seal is beautifully decorated and large for a 2-person cottage. The bedroom is huge, complete with roll-top bath and four-poster bed– luxury! Katie and Steve were fantastic hosts, texting us with a local weather forecast and directions before we arrived, providing a great written guide to area highlights and a bowl of fresh strawberries for our arrival – a lovely touch.

Katy

Fabulous cottage in the grounds of a Jacobean Mansion; all beautifully restored and decorated in impecccable taste by Katie and Steve. They are solicitous hosts who even texted us the day before arrival with a weather report. A welcome pack of the local Sharrington strawberries and a lovely bottle of wine made us feel at home. We stayed in Seal cottage , warm and cosy, perfect for a relaxing break. we were ten minutes from the coast at Blakeney and the endless skies of Norfolk beaches. Bliss. Lots of interesting places to visit if you can bear to leave the hypnotic power of the coast.

We have just returned from an idyllic mini break in Seal Cottage, which is delightful, well equipped and provided every thing we could need. Steve & Katie are great hosts balancing a warm welcome and advice with privacy.

Had an absolutely wonderful long weekend at Seal cottage. Weather was windy and wet ie Norfolk October but Steve and Katie made us feel very welcome and the cottage was beautifully appointed. Handbuilt kitchens, REN toileteries, lovely roll top bath and wet room. Delightful touches to welcome us to the cottage and a brilliant "bible" of local info and eateries etc from Steve and Katie. Super chic decoration to come back to from windy walks on the beach to a cosy woodburner. Romantic, urban chic combined with country cottage - perfect. Highly recommended.

This was our first visit to the Cartshed Cottages but it certainly won't be our last. One of the most beautiful places we've stayed, the cottages are finished to such a high standard by a couple who really care about the experience of the people who stay in their cottages. Looking forward to booking another stay in Sharrington next time we are back in the UK.

Beautiful cottage. We stayed in Seal, the perfect retreat for two. Thoughtfully restored and decorated, the cottage is luxurious, cosy and comfortable. Every last detail thought of - high quality finish, well equipped kitchen and bathroom. Steve and Katie were so charming and helpful - lovely homegrown strawberries to welcome us! Lots to see and do close by - beach walks, yummy food, lovely shops. The perfect escape from London!

"Seal cottage is stunning for a relaxed and stylish break. An ideal location close to lovely places including Holt, Stiffkey, Holkham, Cley, Salthouse and many more. The Cottage itself is in a beautiful quiet location and stunning interior to match. A Perfect place to relax and explore North Norfolk"

We stayed in the Shell cottage this weekend and cannot give it (and the whole experience of staying at Cartshed cottages) enough praise. The cottage was immaculate, stylish and homely. There were lots of personal touches including fire wood, wine on arrival and a hairdryer, which were all really appreciated. The location was absolutely perfect for exploring the area. It was a complete oasis. The owners of the cottages made the whole experience easy from beginning to end seamless and easy. We can't wait to go back!!

We spent 3 days in Seal cottage and have nothing but praise to offer to Steve and Katie. The cottage has been decorated and equipped to an exceptional standard and clearly by someone with an eye for style and design. This place was a perfect mix of tranquil rural charm, elegance, and modern convenience.

Wonderfully relaxing stay in Sky, an ideal cottage both for us and our dog. Luxurious beds and linen, cosy woodburner , and a dreamy setting. Steve and Katie left great notes on the area, alongside a lovely bottle of wine , and a treat for the dog .. a great short break

Wonderfully relaxing stay in Samphire Cottage at Sharrington Hall. The cottages are in a beautiful setting and simply, but very stylishly, furnished with all you could need. We were pleased the weather turned just enough to use the wood burning stove. Katie and Steve are incredibly welcoming and keen to make sure you have a great stay, providing really good local information and the location is perfect - close to Holkham, Holt, Burnham Market etc but also beautifully secluded. We'll definitely be coming back - we loved it!

Heidi

Seal cottage is chic, comfortable and calm and perfect for couples. Beautiful interiors are serene and truly reflect Norfolk wildlife and scenery. A large comfortable bed, roll top bath, drench shower, high ceilings and double aspect windows make the upstairs a haven for long baths and equally long lie ins. We haven't relaxed so well for a long time. A perfect bolthole to escape everyday life and to explore the natural and foodie delights of north Norfolk. Steve and Katie were friendly and helpful from hello to goodbye and Cartshed Cottages deserves to be a huge success for them. Go now!

Caroline

We stayed at Samphire Cottage in November 2013. Lovely! - beautiful surroundings, and our welcoming wine and Kettle Chips were a very thoughtful touch. Katie and Steve pay attention to detail – everything sparkling clean, with comfortable beds and complimentary towels too, and plenty of logs for the wood burner. Many places of interest nearby, and good eateries as well – our meal at the Old Forge seafood restaurant at Thursford, was excellent (but booking is essential). Whatever the weather, we’d recommend Cartshed Cottages to anyone who likes to relax in a calm and restful atmosphere.
