The Experience
You’re tucked away down a narrow winding lane so the feel is deeply rural. Your open-plan holiday home has all the comforts you need – squishy sofa and armchair, a hugely well-equipped kitchen, oak flooring and bold rugs, calm colours and plenty of light. On rainy days you can snuggle in with books, board games and a TV with all the apps for streaming. When the sun reappears you’ll be out in the lovely gardens, perhaps for a barbecue, or to sit around the firepit.
Upstairs is your immaculate bedroom – a double which can be a twin – and with room for a cot if you have a babe in arms. Visit the Shire horses next door, organise a carriage ride or a Land Rover tour, head for the fishing lake and its peaceful surroundings. Walks are from the door, or you can hike the Long Mynd.
Return to much comfort and a home-cooked meal from the Farm Shop – perhaps lasagne, cottage pie or a veggie option. In season you can buy their own Soay lamb and Picklescott Beef. There are delicious ice creams too. A peaceful spot.

Location
The neighbourhood
You're a 10-minute walk from the tiny village of Picklescott (lovely name!) where you'll find a pub, The Bottle & Glass. Little Stretton and The Green Dragon is a 10-min drive. Bishop's Castle, a super market town, is 25 minutes and you can drive the same distance to Much Wenlock to visit the historic priory. Ludlow and Shrewsbury are both 40 minutes and well worth exploring.
Local points of interest from Marcus & Amy
- Shropshire is one of the greatest walking counties in the UK. The spectacular Long Mynd runs down the middle of central/south Shropshire with the Wenlock Edge on the east and Stiper Stones on west. Not to mention 297 miles of the Shropshire Way!
- There is something for everyone for eating out close to Middle Farm. In addition to our friendly local pub just a 15 minute walk from you cottage, there are numerous lovely country pubs in the area together with some great Gastro venues in local towns.
- Whilst staying at Middle Farm, why not enjoy the experience of a horse drawn carriage ride around the beautiful Shropshire countryside on a carriage pulled by two of our resident shire horses, you can enjoy the scenery at the pace of a bygone age.
- We have some beautiful local towns within easy reach of Middle Farm including Shrewsbury with over 600 listed buildings in the town centre alone, the medieval market town of Ludlow and Ironbridge the birthplace of the Industrial Revolution.
- If you enjoy heritage, castles and other historical sites, you’re spoilt for choice in Shropshire with many National Trust and English Heritage sites including Attingham Park, Powys Castle, Croft Castle, Berrington Hall and The Priory at Much Wenlock.
- Experience what life was like back in Victorian times with visits to Blists Hill, a beautifully recreated Victorian Town or Acton Scott which offers visitors the chance to experience rural life in a horse drawn pre-industrial era.
