The Experience
Breakfast in a light-filled, chinoiserie dining room – there’s an effortless elegance to this manor house, once home to one of King Charles’s Cavaliers. Bedrooms are atmospheric, one in French style. The treats continue outside with a beautiful flower garden annually replenished with 5,000 tulips, a lake and orchard, a swimming pool and a tennis court – fabulous. Dine under the pergola in summer: food is a passion and Sarah’s menus are adventurous with a modern slant. Glyndebourne is close so make a party of it and take a divine ‘pink’ hamper, with blankets or a table and chairs included.

A really exceptional B&B: a beautiful house with attractive bedrooms and very comfortable beds and a gorgeous garden with a lovely swimming pool. Sarah is a first class hostess and a superb cook. Breakfasts are excellent with homemade compote and preserves a real treat. The peaceful, idyllic location is just 15 minutes from Glyndebourne and so perfect for opera lovers but also a brilliant location for exploring the amazing historic houses, gardens castles and churches in Sussex.

This was the loveliest stay - an exceptionally elegant house and gardens and fine cuisine prepared by the charming hostess Sarah. We could not have been more comfortable or made to feel more welcome. The house is perfectly situated for all sorts of visits - to Glyndebourne, or Sissinghurst, historic Lewes and other properties and gardens of great interest. The countryside is unspoilt. I could recommend nowhere more highly.

We came for a treat night away before exams start and had a most perfect time. From first contact via phone and email, through changing dates, to arrival and for our whole stay Sarah and Eva were so kind. Drinks by the fire, the dog playing ceaselessly in the beautiful garden with Minnie, Sarah's dog, delicious supper and a perfect nights' sleep - we had a lovely stay. Sarah was generous with her beautiful home and a relaxed and a entertaining host. We highly recommend.

I spent a night at Old Whyly together with a friend during our garden tour of the area. The B&B has a great location, close to towns like Lewes and many interesting gardens. It's a bit off the beaten path in a picturesque area, so it's very peaceful and quiet. We both enjoyed a night's good sleep. The house itself is very beautiful and has a wonderful garden. The room was big and clean, and had a nice comfortable bed. Most of all we appreciated the personal contact with the owner, which made our stay something special. I wish we had stayed a little longer!
