The Experience

Tucked back from the road in its own courtyard, this unusual little house is right in the old heart of Chichester. Enter an open-plan sitting/dining room with a cute kitchen at the back, a warm cosy space of open beams and wooden floors… a dark olive wall here, a blue sofa there, local art, velvet cushions, a wood-burner. Generous Rachel leaves you logs, muffins, Montezuma chocolates, soft towels, flowers, soaps from Molton Brown – every little luxury. She also offers fresh meals and hampers, and her ‘Eat, Drink and Explore’ guide to the area she loves. Bed and bath lie at the top of the carpeted stair and all is airy, peaceful and light, with low beams, latch doors and a classic-but-modern feel. Come morning, head south for the sand dunes of West Wittering, or north for the paths of the South Downs National Park. Or stay put and explore one of the most civilised cities in England; cathedral, theatre, galleries and shops are a stroll away. There’s even private parking in your courtyard garden, but with the station so close, you could roll in by train.

Reviews

Graham, Croydon, Surrey

Excellent all round. Perfect location for a beautifully restored and maintained character house. Rachel has thought of, and supplied, everything that the guest might need, down to the last detail. Highly recommended.

Felicity, Leicester

Fabulous! From the moment of booking rhrough to departure host Rachel goes above and beyond to make her guests welcome and comfortable, yet in an unobstrusive way. Pre orders of hampers works well - in fact everything is perfection - the welcome and personal touches took my breath away. This old house has been sensitively renovated and imaginatively and stylishly decorated and furnished with some lovely artwork and has the bonus of secure off road parking. It is well equipped and maintained and is squeakingly clean. This certainly is S-C luxury.

Edward, Wokingham

Amazing little house! Beautiful exterior with the old clock tower and cute courtyard. The inside is just as magical. Perfect for couples looking to relax and unwind, the house is very smartly dressed with lots of little details that make the stay feel luxurious. The host was great at helping organise the stay and looking forward to a return visit here.

Christina, Christchurch

The house is perfect, every little item has been thought of and beautifully presented. Location is fantastic with everything in walking distance, but with the benefit of a parking space, which in Chichester makes life easy. Rachel is a thoughtful host and is highly recommended. If you want a perfect house, location and host, The Clockhouse can not be beaten.

Jo, LONDON

I cannot recommend this house enough. Perfect in every way, cosy, has wood burner, outside space, parking, the kitchen was stocked with flowers, tea, coffee, juice and chocolates. For those wanting specifics the house itself was spotless, set back in a quiet street, near a lovely park and in the centre of chichester. The bed was really comfy, powerful shower and the bedding, towels and equipment was luxurious. All the little touches and extra treats that were left for us were so generous, no scripping on anything! You can tell Rachel had fun decorating and filling the house with beautiful items
