The Experience
Tucked back from the road in its own courtyard, this unusual little house is right in the old heart of Chichester. Enter an open-plan sitting/dining room with a cute kitchen at the back, a warm cosy space of open beams and wooden floors… a dark olive wall here, a blue sofa there, local art, velvet cushions, a wood-burner. Generous Rachel leaves you logs, muffins, Montezuma chocolates, soft towels, flowers, soaps from Molton Brown – every little luxury. She also offers fresh meals and hampers, and her ‘Eat, Drink and Explore’ guide to the area she loves. Bed and bath lie at the top of the carpeted stair and all is airy, peaceful and light, with low beams, latch doors and a classic-but-modern feel. Come morning, head south for the sand dunes of West Wittering, or north for the paths of the South Downs National Park. Or stay put and explore one of the most civilised cities in England; cathedral, theatre, galleries and shops are a stroll away. There’s even private parking in your courtyard garden, but with the station so close, you could roll in by train.

We have just returned from three wonderful days at the Clock House. It’s a perfect retreat in central Chichester, well located for shops, restaurants and attractions yet tucked away and private. The accommodation is really super - all high spec and really comfortable. Rachel is a caring host who provided lots of tasty treats we enjoyed during our stay.

What a relief and delight to be back at this cosy and comfy cottage after the pandemic pandemonium! Everything to soothe the soul and nourish the heart is here and no expense has been spared to help you relax and unwind during your stay. Rachel is THE best host anyone could wish for and she has certainly put herself in her guests' place when considering what gives pleasure and satisfies needs. The feeling of being valued and pampered is palpable and this compact hideaway is very special, both in situation, facilities and ambiance.

We completely agree with the other positive reviews. We spent an enjoyable few days stay in this delightful and very well appointed character cottage which is conveniently situated in the heart of the old city and comparatively short car journeys to the coast and the lovely South Downs. We thoroughly recommend this delightful property.

Introducing
Rachel King
The owners live elsewhere and their daughter-in-law Rachel manages this house and two others. She is just 15 minutes away if you need any help but leaves you two beautifully-prepared booklets - one about the house and another about the area.
Absolutely perfect in every way, The Clock House is full of character, extremely comfortable and perfectly placed in a quaint cobbled street right in the centre of beautiful Chichester. Rachel, our host, supplied an amazing welcome food supply, delicious pastries/muffins and everything you need upon arrival. The accommodation was clean, well equipped and just so charming, loved it and wish we could have stayed longer.
