The Experience

The Milking Parlour is the perfect retreat for a couple or two; find an airy living room, a private patio for sunny breakfasts, comfortable bedrooms with views over the South Downs and goose-down-topped beds to sink into after a day walking or cycling – footpaths leave from the door. Sandra loves welcoming guests and is on hand at the barn should you need anything. She leaves you a generous hamper with supplies for a continental breakfast – look forward to homemade organic bread, homemade granola and good coffee. On summer evenings, head straight out across fields to The Cock Inn for great food and local Harvey’s beer. You’ll find lots of great gardens and festivals to dip into at Glyndebourne (a few minutes’ drive) or head to Lewes for independent shops and cafés. The coast is within easy reach.

Reviews

Neil, London

A lovely retreat in a wonderful quiet part of the country. The Milking Parlour is a well-equipped, spacious barn conversion that suited us and our canine friend perfectly. The ceiling upstairs is a little too low for comfort first thing in the morning but you soon get used to it. It's a great place for a short break or even longer - we stayed for eight nights and found something new to do every day. We'll be back!

Adrian, South Shields

We had five lovely nights staying in the Milking Parlour. On arrival we were met by Sandra who was so friendly; setting the tone for our stay. The Parlour was spotlessly clean and all furnishings and appliances high spec. Beautifully comfy beds made for great nights’ sleep with stunning views over the Sussex Downs to see on waking. A perfect location, beautiful views, perfect peace and quiet. Highly recommended.

A blissful few days here - what a superb place to stay! Everything comfortable, equipped to a very high standard and spotlessly clean. The views of the South Down are stunning and the sunny deck is the perfect place to sit with a glass and chill with the butterflies in the lavender. Sandra and Miles are totally delightful, charming, helpful hosts providing tips on things to do and delicious goodies of homemade bread, jam and their own honey. The area is a delight to explore with great walks, gardens to visit and excellent food at local pubs recommended by your hosts. Can't wait to go back!

William, Solihull

We’re just back from a very sunny week in the Milking Parlour - what a beautiful place to stay! It has been lovingly restored to a very high standard and was immaculately clean and very comfortable. Sandra’s welcome pack of delicious homemade goodies was excellent and we enjoyed the sunny terrace and the views across the South Downs, where we had some really great walks. It’s the perfect place for a relaxing holiday!

Jonathan, London

Outstanding place to stay, delivered 100% on what was described and Sandra was a most helpful host. Roomy, comfortable, great terrace that caught the sun and top location.
