The Experience

It’s all such a treat. The white doves and verdant lawns. The soaring views over Danby Dale and the National Park. The large gardens and sheltered barbecue areas – private, apart from the odd sheep peeping in. Lofty and light, the award-winning barn conversions each sleep six in stylish comfort. In Beacon View, exotic rugs and leather sofas set off a beautifully hewn oak framework, cushions soften Yorkshire stone window seats, flagged floors are heated underfoot and the master bedroom is on the ground floor – good for the less than nimble. If you’re not chilling up in the gallery, you’ll be in the open-plan kitchen, perched on a church pew or lining up wine glasses on an antique butcher’s block. And finally to bed – but not before a splash in the double-ended, roll-top bath with a built-in sound system. Logs are free, the wine is own-label, warm scones wait in the oven. And if you need more sophisticated catering, your eco-minded hosts can arrange that, too. Fabulous for family parties, for walks in the Moors, for wowing friends and anyone who appreciates timeless architecture and design. Bram Stoker fans can take a trip to Whitby. Huge fun.

Reviews

We had a wonderful stay at Dale View Barn in the Yorkshire Moors. The barn itself was beautifully designed and the views were amazing. It is set in a very peaceful, spectacular location too with huge skies. Liz and Danny were the perfect hosts, friendly and thoughtful, ensuring the barn was fully equipped with everything we needed. There was also the great addition of a delicious cake and prosecco in our arrival.

Divine….A truly magical hideaway - to be respected and enjoyed for its serenity. All that you could possibly wish for was to be found here…

Maria, Worcester

We had a wonderful stay here, and could not get over the natural beauty of the local area. Every walk and car journey were an absolute treat, en route to some amazing local sights (our favourites included: walking to Castleton and Danby for bakeries, tearooms, delis and pubs; driving into Whitby for fish and chips and charity shop browsing; hopping on the steam train to Goathland and then hiking to the Mallyan Spout waterfall). A then what a lovely home to come back to! Equipped with literally everything you might need, from toys for the kids to high quality cooking utensils and warm blankets.

This is a gem of a place. Two barns in an idyllic setting with a lovely welcome from the most charming hostess. We stayed in Dale View. The original features have been successfully maintained and blended seamlessly into all the amenities and comforts you would expect from first class accommodation. We have already booked to return next year

Frank, Glossop

Beautiful place to stay right on the moors with stunning views. Liz and Danny, our hosts were so friendly and the house was so warm and inviting when we arrived. The children loved the amazing Huge Christmas tree in the Lounge.

If you are fortunate enough to venture to the North Yorkshire Moors, Beacon View Cottage is the most idyllic perfect place to stay. The cottage is stunning inside and out, warm, comfortable and has everything you need. We stayed the Christmas week, 2 adults, 2 teenagers and my mum who is wheelchair based, only one side of her body is functional so very limited movement and she found it very easy to manoeuvre around the cottage, the bathroom had all the necessary hand rails and wet shower to wheel in and out of. Prior to booking I spent a great deal of time trying to find stylish wheelchair acc

We have just returned from 5 days in Beacon View Barn. The word 'idyllic' is much used in reviews but in this case it's entirely appropriate. The barn is an impressive and spacious conversion. Everything you could possibly need is provided, including items for your dog (in Beacon View). The property was spotless and we had no concerns in relation to Covid - we felt completely safe. Liz, the owner, is very friendly, approachable, and helpful. The whole area of the North Yorks Moors is well worth a visit with much to explore, both inland and on the coast.

Wendy, Sheffield

Beacon View has everything - idyllic position, stunning scenery, excellent facilities and proximity to beautiful countryside walks and places to visit – all contributing to a really enjoyable family holiday with our dog. Highlights for us include the coastal walk from Robin Hood’s Bay, the beach at Runswick Bay, the unusual Bridestones in Dalby Forest and the lovely villages of Hutton-le-Hole and Helmsley. However each day we looked forward to returning to our very comfortable Barn and in particular enjoying the stunning views from the outdoor area. Thanks to Liz and Danny.

Moira, Leamington Spa

Spent a wonderful week (not long enough!) in Beacon View at the lovely Crag House Farm. A beautiful, peaceful setting in the middle of the moors with a stunning view & lovely scenery all around. The barn itself is comfortable and finished to a really high standard, plenty of space & with some lovely touches to make it extra special. Liz & Danny were really welcoming & even took our grocery delivery in when we got delayed in traffic on our way up. All necessary hygiene measures had been taken to ensure things were covid safe.

Roxy, East Grinstead

Dale View Barn provides luxury 5 star accommodation in a stunning setting, beautifully furnished and extremely well equipped. We are keen cooks and the lovely kitchen had everything we needed, plenty of space for the family to enjoy and a beautiful garden and wonderful views. Would highly recommend to anyone wanting to explore North Yorkshire but also enjoy some peace and tranquility.

A delightful week spent at Crag House Farm....6 couples in the two cottages. The accommodations were perfect, and allowed us to comfortably move between the two cottages. The setting was magical (the baby lambs were an added treat), and our hosts were wonderful, expertly advising us on hikes, local pubs, and destinations. A beautiful part of the world--quiet, undiscovered, with incredible hikes and stunning views. We're a group that has been to many different places together--this was probably our best one yet. Thank you, Liz and Danny, for a memorable week.

Dee, Asheville, NC

Our group had the most amazing time at Crag House Farm and hiking in the North Yorkshire Moors. Liz and Danny were extremely helpful getting us oriented with hikes, pub locations, and day train information. The accommodations are top quality with Liz’s eye for design and comfort evident throughout. One of the highlights of our week at Crag House Farm was catching the Eskulele Club (Liz and Danny included) performing at the local pub on Wednesday night.

Linda, Tryon, NC

The cottage exceeded our expectations, It was extremely comfortable and very well equipped for a family stay, It was pristinely clean which was important to us as we had a very small baby in the party. We were warm and cosy even when it was snowing outside. Fabulous views and peaceful. A memorable family holiday,

Liz, Oxford

This is one if the most beautiful places we have stayed at in the uk. The views from the property are truly stunning to wake up to. Crag House Farm Barns have been furnished to make your stay as homely and comfortable as possible to provided the perfect holiday stay. We have some wonderful family memories of our Easter break and hope to return again to this relaxing retreat.

Nicki, Cambridge

Without doubt the best self catering accommodation I have stayed in. Liz was incredibly helpful in terms of both our stay and recommendations and Dale View was even more gorgeous that the photos suggest. The house is equipped with everything you could need (even lavender oil for the bath!) and the standard of all the furniture/fitttings is superb. We had a wonderful relaxing weekend. If you go - have the Danby Beacon lit. But don’t follow the satnav using the postcode!

Sarah, Huddersfield

Six of us plus baby stayed for a week in Dale View Barn just before Easter. The cottage lived up to everything we had read about it and proved to be easily spacious enough for us all. Liz and Danny were very welcoming and couldn't have done more to make our stay really enjoyable. The weather was kind and the surrounding countryside was at its best. There were loads of places to visit and things to do in the area so that everyone in our large group was catered for. Without doubt, we would highly recommend the cottage without reservation.

Linda, Abingdon

Four of us stayed in Dale View for four nights in late March. This is a truly beautiful barn conversion with stunning views across Danby Dale from the wonderful gardens. The sun shone for all of our stay and Liz and Danny were the perfect hosts too, giving us great tips on places to visit and where to eat. We all had a great time and will definitely visit again just as soon as we can. Just perfect!

Richard, Cheltenham

Completely lovely and we relaxed as soon as we walked in the door. Wonderful walks, a choice of great places to eat and drink or just stay in the beautiful barn and chill. Would love to return in the summer, hopefully for longer, enjoy the outdoor space and explore the wider area more. Liz and Danny were there if needed and have made the most beautiful barn conversions into a dream place to stay.

Clare, Salisbury

Perfect in every way. Dale View Barn is absolutely beautiful, the views are amazing and our hosts brilliant. I cannot recommend Cragg House Farm Barns highly enough. The location was breathtaking, even in December! A wonderful place to spend a family new year - we didn't want to leave!! Thank you Liz and Danny, you provided everything and more needed for a wonderful time (oh, and the sun shone every day too - beautiful).

Karon, Buckinghamshire

Whilst we were only able to spend 4 days in Crag House Barn, we enjoyed it immensely. The standard of barn accommodation is superb in every detail and all the amenities were top class. The setting is delightful right in the heart of the North Yorkshire Moors and very secluded. Liz & Danny made us feel very welcome and were on hand should we have needed them, which we did not. Most highly recommended.
