The Experience
On and on the road goes, deeper into the woods until the single track stops at an 1820s farmhouse surrounded by open fields. The gravelled drive crunches nicely under the tyres and the kitchen sports a hamper of local goodies (and, on occasion, home-brewed elderflower champagne!). Philip and Caroline love making guests feel at home and you may freely roam their super big garden with orchard, vegetable patch, loungers and barbecue. You can head off for a long walk over the rolling North Yorkshire Moors and come back to deep comfort. Snuggle up with a book in front of the wood-burner, watch a DVD, play a round of cards at the chunky table. There are quirky touches like old Singer sewing machines as table bases, a shelf of vintage china in the well-thought out kitchen/diner, and modern art on the walls. The bedrooms feel light and fresh with local oak furniture and cheerful cushions. Jump in the car for a trip to the coast or wander round the charming market town of Helmsley. The Hayloft feels as though it’s in the middle of nowhere and yet moors, dales and the sea are wonderfully close.

This is a fabulous cottage, with nature on its very doorstep: Spring lambs, forest trails, an oasis of a garden and a wide variety of birdsong. It's well-equipped with modern appliances and bathroom fittings, spotlessly clean, has a log burner, lovely views, a sun- trap seating area in the garden , it's well- located for moors & coast, very dog-friendly and with great owners living in the adjacent property. There are many returning guests.
