A truly seductive combination of a wild landscape of ancient woods and hidden glens with rivers that tumble to a blue sea and a big, beautiful house with views straight down the loch. The whole place glows with polished antiques, oak floors, exquisite fabrics, prints and paintings. And Yvonne and Matthew are brilliant at looking after you – whether you’re super-active, or not – their fabulous Scottish food’s a treat. Bedrooms have soft plaids, superb views and handmade chocolates; bathrooms have huge towels and locally made soaps. Sally forth with boots or bikes, return to a dram by the log fire. Melfort House is a beautiful house in a stunningl location. We were greeted on arrival and shown up to a lovely large bedroom with fantastic views of the loch. Matthew cooked us the most amazing meal - four courses - and we enjoyed the company of another very pleasant American couple. The bed was exceptionally comfortable and breakfast was again delicious. Matthew and Yvonne were charming and very hospitable and I can honestly say that this is one of the best B & B's we have stayed in.

Sheila, Tunbridge wells

Great location overlooking the sea; delightful room with picture window; our dog loved the grounds and seashore; Dawn cooked an excellent dinner and we had remembered to take our own wine, for which they make no extra charge. Well located for Oban and its ferries and Matthew served an excellent breakfast. Much to be enjoyed and savoured.
