The Experience

This charming whitewashed cottage is one of five on the Wern Estate, on the edge of Snowdonia National Park. You cook in the farmhouse kitchen and dine in the conservatory looking out over the gardens.

Snuggle next to the wood-burner in the sitting room with a book or play games – this is a great place to get away from it all.  Pick your own herbs from the garden, enjoy a barbecue on the patio when it’s balmy. Immerse yourself into the hot tub under the stars before bed, or book a private session in the sauna – a ten-minute walk or short drive.

A pretty stream runs alongside the house, and at the back there’s a secret garden with inspiring views across a private lake to the surrounding hills of the Llyn Peninsula. Walk to the beach at Black Rock Sands in 40 minutes, explore the nearby seaside towns of Criccieth and Porthmadog and have a fascinating day out at Portmeirion, designed in the style of an Italian village (a seven-mile drive).

Reviews

Raymond, Horsham

Pont Faen was a delightful place to stay. Off the beaten track yet perfectly presented - everything we needed was there. An extremely comfortable and cosy cottage and so peaceful.

Kate, Keighley

We were lucky enough to stay at Pont Faen in August last year. It is a simply superb cottage set in the middle of nowhere with just a few curious sheep for neighbours. It has everything that you could possibly need and is exceptionally comfortable. We have already booked again this year. Book it - you will love it.

James, Sheffield

A wonderful place to stay, quiet and peaceful with local little walks of interest. Not far too to some great attractions, steam railways, castles, beaches and more. The cottage has lots of character, with everything you need for your stay. Thoroughly recommended.

Andrea, Chipping Norton

Beautiful cottage in a peaceful setting. Very comfortably appointed to a high standard. Beds were so comfortable we bought the same pillows when we returned home! Highly recommended - we will be back!

Heather, Redditch

Absolutely loved this cottage we are returning this May. Decorated beautifully with ample amenities. Situated in an ideal location which enables access to many beautiful destinations in Wales. This is the perfect place to get away and put your busy lifestyle behind you, even if it’s just for a week or two.

Location

The neighbourhood

The Llyn Peninsula is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and the Welsh Coast Path runs around it, passing coves, beaches, churches and the remains of Iron Age forts. The Victorian seaside resort of Criccieth, six minutes’ drive away, has the remains of a 13th-century castle, as well as independent shops and good restaurants – try Dylan’s, a seafood restaurant in an art deco building facing the sandy beach.

Local points of interest from Wern Holiday Cottages

  • 2000 Acre private rural Estate surrounded by oak woodlands. The gardens are lawned and private and you can fish sea-trout in the lake.
  • You can fish in our private lake at a very reasonable cost. Our lake has been stocked solely for the use of our guests.
  • Porthmadog, with it's marina and shops, is just 5 minutes away.
  • Black Rock Sands is a must - the beach is so vast that you can drive your car onto it. Perfect for dog walking, shell collecting, windsurfing or just having a good old run about.
  • Llanbedrog is a charming little seaside village with a superb beach and the most famous line of beach huts in North Wales. Visit the Oriel Plas Glyn Y Weddw Gallery for homemade cake and see David's (the owner of Y Boncyn) sculpture "Louise" in the garden.
  • You can enjoy our lovely eco-friendly wood fired hot tub whilst staying with us.
