The Experience
Thread your way down the winding streets of St Davids, Britain’s tiniest city, to this sturdy stone cottage, one of three. It is the furthest from the road, the closest to the garden, and has the best views, across rooftops and distant hills to Ramsey Island, breeding ground of peregrines and seabirds.
Explore the architecturally fascinating 12th-century cathedral – one of Britain’s finest – tucked in a hollow beside the river. The Bishop’s Palace lies on the other bank, an atmospheric ruin in which Shakespeare’s plays are performed on summer nights.
Hop on a ferry to Ramsey Island from three miles down the road, walk a lazy mile to probe caves and rock pools at Caerfai Bay; surfers will head for Whitesands Bay just below and you can hire kayaks at Abereiddi’s Blue Lagoon. Wander to the pub for supper or fire up the barbecue in the garden on summer evenings.

This is possibly the finest Holiday Cottage in the whole of Wales! It is furnished to a very high standard and is exceptionally clean and in a beautiful location, just minutes away from the magnificent St David's Cathedral, and a twenty minute walk to Porth Clais on the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path. We have been returning each year since about 2010. Looking forward to our annual visit later this year.

We stayed at Bwthyn Lil for a week over Easter. A great cottage with lots of character in the heart of St David’s. It is exceptionally clean and comfortable, with a well equipped kitchen and wood burner for cosy evenings in. It is a perfect location for walking from the door, with the coast path and miles of wild coastline to explore only a short walk away. The setting is very peaceful, with views out over the Cathedral. Hamish keeps the garden immaculate, and this is a lovely place to rest after a day walking the peninsula. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Perfect in every way - a beautiful cottage, in the best spot in St.Davids. With parking and a privates south facing garden. Unbelievably comfortable beds, top of the drawer appliances and kitchen utensils, a wood burner for the occasional cool evening, even Netflix. But who need that when you can walk out of the door and hit the Coastal path in minutes. No need to use the car. Two fabulous restaurants 5 minutes walk away and the local pubs on your doorstep too. Plus the fabulous Dawn who looks after the cottage and its guests.Nothing is too much trouble.A blissful retreat from a mad, mad world

Bwthyn Lil is a superb characterful cottage, well maintained, well equipped, clean, comfortable and relaxing. It is tucked away in a quiet street, with off road parking, yet yards from the centre of town and the cathedral, it shares a beautiful tranquil garden with the other 2 Ty Gwilym cottages. St David’s has a good range of shops from food to clothes and quality gift shops, lots of places to eat and drink, and is not too ‘touristy’. Great beaches are a short drive or walk away. There is lots to see and do in the immediate area as well as further afield.

Location
The neighbourhood
The cottages are a minute’s walk from the centre of a city that is charmingly small and unashamedly old-fashioned. Discover craft shops, food shops, restaurants and pubs, including the Farmer's Arms on the same street. The 12th-century cathedral, the finest in Wales, hides down a hill, and wonderful beaches abound – Whitesands, Caerfai, Abereiddi. Coastal walks are a ten-minute drive.
Local points of interest from Hamish Elvidge
- Whitesand Bay is a wonderful sandy beach within five minutes drive and is great for surfing and sandcastles!
- St Davids Cathedral is the focal point of the city and must be visited!
- Great restaurants( for example Morgans and Cwtch) are plentiful in St Davids and the surrounding area.
- A trip around Ramsey Island cannot be missed, to see the seals and, hopefully dolphins!
- Abereiddi and the Blue Lagoon create a very unqiue atmosphere.
- Pothgain is a unique, beautiful harbour, which has a really good restaurant (The Shed) and pub (The Sloop)

Introducing
Hamish Elvidge
The owners are Linda and Hamish Elvidge, and Dawn Hughes is the meeter and greeter. A native of St Davids, she is friendly and informative, and fiercely proud of the three cottages she cleans and the garden she so meticulously tends.
A beautiful cottage with a lovely garden and incredible views. We couldn’t fault our stay.
