It’s fantastically central, between Shropshire and Cheshire to the east and the Berwyn Mountains to the west, Snowdonia and the Cambrian Coast around 90 minutes away for longer rambles. There’s plenty on the doorstep too, alongside Llansantffraid’s three rivers or around Lake Vyrnwy.Budding little farmers will love the comings and goings of the tractors, and friendly host Christine will be delighted to introduce the cows and sheep and point you in the right direction for great local pubs – The Station Grill (three miles) has posh pub grub – or where to shop for top-notch produce to cook up in the little kitchen. Light the log burner, pour the wine and plan the next day’s adventures.
