A large open-plan living and dining space is colourful with exceptional art, a long wooden dining table for convivial meals, comfy sofas and chairs and a big square kitchen with a range cooker and all the kit you could want. Shopping can be ordered ahead and you can buy eggs and honey from the owners.

Two staircases lead to the four bedrooms, all with handsome beds, more good art and awesome views over the garden and down to the river. The ground floor opens out onto a large riverside terrace with a pond full of lazy fish and a dining area with barbecue. Soak in the outdoor bath, have picnics down by the river, do laps in the pool, sunbathe on smart deck chairs, order spa treatments or even a chef. It’s a very spoiling place.
