The Experience
In the rural heart of the Périgord is a homely stone gîte tucked between meadows, woodland and orchards. Attached to the friendly owner’s farmhouse who are on hand for recommendations but otherwise leave you be, you get your own view-filled terrace, an outdoor solar-heated saltwater pool, table tennis and big lawn for games and mucking about.
Arrive to a hamper brimming with homegrown veg, herbs, a bottle of local wine (feel free to pick extra seasonal veg) plus all the basics in a well-kitted out kitchen opening onto a terrace hung with fairy lights. A grand spot for morning coffee, lazy lunches and barbecues under the stars.
Hop on bikes and pedal along the river path to Lalinde for fresh bread and pastries, restaurants, bars and shops. The other direction takes you to Bergerac which has a super twice weekly food market. Return to deep peace: play board games, throw logs on the fire in the cosy living room, sleep in bedrooms upstairs and down.

Introducing
Catherine & Jean-Pierre Abbadie
Catherine and Jean-Pierre fell in love with the Périgord's landscape and history and discovered an old farmhouse that they could tease back to life using eco-friendly principles. After a year of hard work and dedicated planting, they welcomed their first guests in 2021. Today their four hectares of land teem with birds and bees, chickens and an abundant vegetable plot.
We had a wonderful week at Gite Adorei. It is a peaceful, restorative place and is perfectly placed to explore beautiful nearby villages, markets and chateaux. It is also close to the cycle path that follows the Dordogne to Bergerac in one direction and Lilande the other (where we cycled to get fresh bread most days). The swimming pool is wonderful and the kids loved the table tennis.
