The
Experience

Your delightful hosts have combined the best of modern design with old French charm and travellers’ treasures to create a thoughtful elegance and different moods in each room. Fabulous Dordogne views top it all off and help to make this handsome 17th-century house special. Bedrooms full of light, originality and comfort lead to excellent newly-done bathrooms; the living and dining rooms breathe the simplicity and warmth of glowing wood against old stone; breakfast is on the terrace where eyes sweep out to the river and Josephine Baker’s château. Take the children to see Castelnaud’s giant catapults and improbable armour; book early for Lascaux.

Reviews

Second visit and everything wonderful! Beautiful immaculate rooms and common spaces. Stephanie is charming and helpful. Delicious breakfasts and dinners. Cooking class a special treat! Definitely 5star!

Kay, Portland

Les Hauts de Saint Vincent is a real gem. We really enjoyed our stay. Stephanie was a fantastic host. The house is located close to Chateau Milandes which is well worth a visit. Bicycles can be rented from Castelnaud La Chapelle for a ride on the Voie Verte. We really do hope to return again.

Sttephen, Torquay

This is an exceptional house in a wonderful setting with amazing views onto the Dordogne. Stephanie is a wonderful host and you are made to feel very welcome in her beautiful home, which has been renovated to a very high standard. Bedrooms and bathrooms reflect this, all stylishly decorated and spotlessly clean. Breakfasts were delicious and featured homemade yogurts, homemade preserves as well as fresh fruit and pastries. Stephanie went to a lot of trouble to cater for two coeliacs in my family who require a gluten-free diet. The pool was bliss on the hot days! We hope to return!

Fantastic welcome and beautiful home - would highly recommend

Local points of interest from Fabrice & Stephanie Berbessou

  • Don't miss Beynac beautiful medieval village, built right up against a cliff upon which stands its castle.
  • At Marqueyssac box tree garden ( ten minutes drive ), you will admire all Dordogne valley and Castelnaud castle, which boths visits can be combined and is of great interest with its medieval war museum
  • The Milandes castle erupts every morning outside your bedroom window. Don't miss its visit and discover the extraordinary life of Josephine Baker, one of the most exceptional women of the 20th century .
  • At the sunset, go admire another valley view at the little church of Cazenac village, a very peaceful moment to enjoy
  • If you are fan of prehistoric times, don't miss all the caves of Les Eyzies de Tayac, and of course Lascaux caves !
  • Of course, take the time to visit Sarlat medieval city, especially at sunset to admire its beautiful honey coloured stoned houses and take the opportunity to have dinner to one of our favorite restaurants : Le Petit Manoir.
