The Experience

You’ll feel incredibly welcome here: order a pre-arrival shop, a meal on your first night, freshly-baked bread, a picnic by the river or a Saturday barbecue, Tish and Stu are brilliant at organising a fabulous time for all. They can also point you to local wine shops, a microbrewery or the best places to swim and canoe.

You’ll find a choice of bikes to borrow so set off along the picturesque Dordogne valley, explore St Cyprien or Siorac – both are ancient riverside towns with fantastic medieval buildings, narrow pedestrian streets and good restaurants. Explore bastide villages, châteaux and caves.

Each house has a fenced, lawned and terraced garden with barbecue and shares a big pool and a separate shallow one for children. It’s easy to be sociable here, or even take all three cottages for a reunion. If when the weather isn’t playing you’ll be happy inside with loads of books and DVDs and open fires.

Could not have had a better place to stay in the Perigord. The gites are special – lovingly designed with everything you need. And Tish and Stu are just brilliant. Booking us a canoe trip, suggesting events and places to visit – they helped us have a holiday to remember. It’s perfectly sited near so many wonderful sights and experiences, for every adult or child you could imagine. This time I was with family – already planning another visit with friends. I’m struggling between wanting to give the praise and thanks they deserve and letting anyone else into our secret!

Its been nearly a month since we spent two glorious weeks at La Maison Perigourdine and I miss it every day! The extraordinary kindness and attention to detail of our hosts,Trish and Stuart, meant that the house had everything we could possibly want (even fans in the heatwave) and the 6 of us had a truly wonderful lazy time, enjoying the fabulous pool and long meals on the terrace with occasional forays to local markets and sights. But mostly we just enjoyed the beautiful peaceful setting and were able to completely relax knowing Trish and Stuart were there if needed. We can't wait to go back!

Tish and Stuart were the most incredibly helpful and welcoming hosts in this absolutely stunning gîte, located at the heart of all you could want from the Dordogne. We had a relaxing week made all the more so by the kindness of our hosts who shuttled us to kayaking spots on the Dordogne and Vezere and who arrange our worming appointment for our dog at the vets. Such kind hosts who allowed us our privacy whilst also being so helpful is a rare gift. The gîte itself was fabulous, very private, quiet, beautiful inside and in the lovely little dog proof garden. Don’t hesitate to book, magnificent

Joy. Just relax in any of these delightful houses, enjoy the extensive view over the Dordogne valley and let Tish and Stu take care of you. Meet up with other guests at the pool when you're feeling sociable or enjoy your own private garden space.

Fabulous hosts, fantastic gite, beautiful location. We stayed at Maisons la Boissiere for our honeymoon and we couldn't have asked for more. Stu and Tish were excellent hosts and really made our honeymoon very special. The gite was great and had everything you could want, the garden, terrace and pool area beautiful with fabulous views and very private. We would highly recommend staying here and would love to come back. Best wishes, John and Natalie.

We stayed in La Vieille Grange this summer - a fantastic holiday, house & gardens beautifully maintained with flowers everywhere and pool superb. Quiet and relaxing but also plenty to do - walking & cycling from the gîte or caves and vineyards a drive away. Stu and Tish are lovely and couldn’t have been more helpful - recommending markets, bookings and even collecting us from the local town after a meal out!

My wife and I stayed for 8 nights in the one BR house on the property. To sum it all up: it's a great place, with great hosts. Stuart and Tish are extremely gracious, as well as being very knowledgeable about the area. We found the property to be an ideal base to explore the Dordogne. Although very rural, a town with a store, a pharmacy, restaurants, etc. is just a few minutes away. We are very experienced travelers; we've rented houses in many countries; we've never found anywhere nicer. Highly recommended and nothing but good things to report about our stay, the property, and the hosts. A++

Wonderful!! WE spent a week in La Boulangerie with Stu and Trish. Our goal on a 5 week driving tour through France was to experience the rural France, the villages, history, markets and local folk. The cottage was perfect, well stocked, cozy with a great bed and shower. Nicely located to explore on day trips the many different historical areas. We met our goal and more, our thanks....Cherry

We wished our couple of nights with our hugely hospitable and kind hosts Stuart and Tish Inglis at 'Maisons La Boissiere' near Mouzens in a specially beautiful and scenic part of the Dordogne, could have been longer. Our gite had absolutely everything we could possibly have needed, and all the comfort and charm we had hoped for, their property also has a superb pool and garden, and they are immensely helpful in providing sightseeing suggestions, also restaurant recommendations if you don't feel like cooking and driving in from Toulouse and then flying out of Bergerac was immensely convenient.

We stayed at Maisons-la-Boissiere for 6 days whist visiting the Dordogne, " what a great find " Stuart & Tish were the perfect hosts, with a wealth of information on the area of thing to do & see If you don't feel like cooking Stuart & Tish are perfectly happy and capable of producing some wonderful 5* meals. The accommodation is clean fresh bright and beautifully furnished but still has the oldie-worldly feel to it, we loved the Fabulous views from our covered terrace in the morning. The pool and garden area are a great place to relax after a days visiting local old bastille towns & markets

Location

The neighbourhood

Perched high on a wooded hillside overlooking the Dordogne valley, Maisons la Boissiere forms part of a small clustered hamlet of stone built houses with unimpeded views. There is little traffic, little noise, yet you are not remote and within easy reach of small towns with local services. Cycling, swimming, canoeing, tennis and wonderful evening food markets are all nearby.

Local points of interest from Stuart & Tish Inglis

  • We have two 18 hole golf courses within twenty minutes drive, one only five minutes away. We also have our wonderful 16m x 6m pool together with a safe kiddies pool. Our pool area is fenced and alarmed.
  • The Dordogne and Vezere Rivers offer superb canoeing and sight-seeing opportunities. We also have a beach on the river within five minutes, great for a quiet picnic with safe swimming. - Please look at a video of our immediate area on our home page.
  • Wonderful day and evening food markets all around us. Let us arrange a picnic by the river - all you need to do is to turn up as we will set up and take down for you.
  • Year round food festivals (Truffle, Mushroom, Fois Gras, Wine etc). Learn to cook traditional French cuisine, take a private tour of nearby vineyards.
  • Minutes from many Chateaux, Bastide Towns and Pre-Historic caves.
