The Experience

There’s plenty of space. As well as small seating areas in each bedroom there is a generous guest sitting/dining room with a long table and a bench seat, several separate reading spaces, two balconies overlooking the water and a back garden with seats and tables set up for contemplating or taking a book. This 1960s house, surrounded by coastal pines is approached by crossing a bridge with fabulous views of endless masts.

Breakfast is served on one of the balconies or in the guest sitting room: homemade cake, local breads, honey and homemade jam – hungrier souls can tuck into eggs, ham, bacon and cheese.

Bedrooms are big. One on the ground floor has its own decking, another on the first floor has picture windows overlooking swaying pines and the river and, up in the eaves, the views are even better. All have en suite walk-in showers. Book a boat trip to explore the islands or bring your own kayak and set sail from here.

Reviews

My wife and I spent two nights at Escale Manebrez during our two-week tour of Brittany. Christine and Patrick made us feel "at home". They provided excellent advice on places to visit and restaurants. The house has been beautifully adapted for housing guests in three well-appointed rooms with a large common living/dining area. Patrick's home-made breakfasts were a perfect start to each day. Our one regret was that we spent too little time at Escale Manebrez. It would be the perfect "home base" for touring Quiberon Peninsula, Auray, Vannes, and the Gulf of Morbihan over a 4-5 day period.

Our first trip to Brittany was enhanced by the hospitality and kindness of our hosts, Christine and Patrick. Delicious and varied breakfasts coupled with plenty of helpful hints for discovering local places of interest along with good restaurant recommendations.

Linda, Castillonnes

This is a perfect place to stay as the house and setting is lovely. Christine and Patrick are perfect hosts, so welcoming, helpful and charming. They gave us all the advice we needed re restaurants and places to visit. Breakfast on the terrace is real treat too. Sadly we could only stay for two nights but we hope to go back again. I would highly recommend Mane Braz as a place to stay.

We loved Mane Braz. Patrick et Christine are wonderful hosts, knowledgeable and warm. Patrick sent us to one of his personal favorite restaurants, where they welcomed us with open arms! Christine shared her experiences and both were great hosts. The breakfasts, with homemade configures and pastries, and local cheese, are great. The views are wonderful, the location great, the relaxation beyond compare.

Eric “Rico”, Chicago

When we discovered Christine and Patrick in their former chambre d'hôte we thought we had struck gold. Mané Braz however is the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. Stylishly modern, yet homely and situated in a beautiful location. Breakfasts are a culinary delight - everything produced in house. Christine and Patrick are the perfect hosts who go out of their way to make you feel welcome and cared for. Mané Braz is already our new special place.

Pat, North Wales

A lovely location, just over the river from La Trinité-sur-Mer and close to Crac'h and Saint-Philibert. We had brought our bikes and hardly used the car, making for a relaxing time visiting Carnac and the Alignments and the local beaches, cafes and shops. We were welcomed by Christine and Patrick and their very friendly dog and felt very much at home enjoying the large kitchen and dining area shared with the other guests. Breakfasts were excellent, with preserves and yoghurt that were homemade along with fruit and delicious egg and bacon. Hoping to return and definitely recommend a stay.

Andrew, dorchester

Coming here feels like staying with a friend of a friend, a place where you can stretch out on the bed, curl up cat-like on the balcony, sipping your favourite drink and watch passing boats. Lazily plan the next day's adventures: a coastal walk, a morning market, a boat trip, or simply stay in the shady garden and sink into relaxation.

Location

The neighbourhood

You'll feel lulled by the water and the pines. There's always something to see when you look out of the window. Walk into La Trinité-sur-Mer for shops, restaurants, boat trips in summer and oysters. You can also walk on the Saint-Philibert side of the coastal path for stunning views. There are good cycle paths nearby both inland and on the coast. Auray is a ten-minute drive for a train station.

Introducing

Christine & Patrick Gillot

Christine and Patrick live in the other half of the ground floor. They're seasoned hands having run a B&B in Talvern in the past - also with Sawday's. They have renovated this house completely and now open it to guests. They are relaxed and very welcoming.
