Gîte Le Saltre

We absolutely fell in love with both Gite Le Saltre and the Quercy Blanc region. The Gite itself is impeccable, replete with so many beautiful touches. It is clearly a labour of love. Penny and Patrick are such delightful hosts, always ensuring you have what you need, there with great advice on what to do, friendly and welcoming, but still giving you the space and privacy to enjoy their lovely property. The wider Quercy Blanc region is a slice of heaven - stunning views, gorgeous villages, and amazing wine and food (eat in their restaurant - Cafe de France - which we did 4 times!)

July we had a fantastic time in this wonderful gite, the best equipped I have ever been too. Super helpful hosts, Penny and Patrick and a glorious pool made this an unbeatable holiday. Thoroughly recommended

A lovely location, tucked away in a lesser known area, with lovely villages just 10 minutes away. Walks up in the woods and fields behind the perfect Gîte especially at sunset are a delight. Penny has thought of everything in the Gîte, there is nothing else you could wish for. We were lucky to arrive as she was making apricot jam! Both she and Patrick are perfect hosts, discreet, yet friendly and helpful…don’t forget to eat in their restaurant in Montcuq!

The area is both beautiful and interesting, with plenty to offer visitors, while the gîte itself is absolutely delightful: brilliantly designed, decorated with flair, superbly appointed and equipped, and offering an idyllic view during the day and a magical starry sky at night. Even the pool has a view. Penny and Patrick are charming, friendly hosts and made us welcome without ever intruding. We recommend Le Saltre in the warmest possible terms.

Penny and Patrick are very welcoming yet discrete hosts, even providing us with an evening meal as we were arriving late. The gite is beautifully furnished and perfect for a relaxing holiday. Sole use of their swimming pool is a really nice touch. The surrounding countryside is lovely with gentle walks straight from the gite and plenty of towns, villages and vineyards to visit, including Penny and Patrick’s restaurant in Montcuq. Don’t miss the freshly baked walnut bread from the local mill/farm.

We just spent an idyllic week at Le Saltre Gite. The Gite is beautiful with gorgeous furnishings and every convenience you could need (air con, walk in wardrobe, laundry, gas barbecue, even citronella candles for the terrace!) The location is equally stunning with amazing views across the countryside by day and of the stars at night and a large pool set in a lavender scented garden. Montcuq is 15 mins away with a range of shops and eateries (including the owners’ wonderful restaurant). All in all a great place to switch off and recharge your batteries. Thoroughly recommend!

We have just had a lovely week’s holiday here. Penny and Patrick made us very welcome. The gite has been stylishly and sympathetically renovated and is very well appointed and comfortable. It is set in a beautiful spot and we never tired of the view. We enjoyed exploring the local towns, Montcuq being our favourite with the added attraction of Penny and Patrick’s restaurant, a great place to sit and have a coffee and people watch or to eat. We enjoyed our stay very much.

A wonderful personal welcome from Penny on arrival which set the tone for the whole week. This Gite is an absolute ‘find’ situated in idyllic rural surroundings with great countryside views and easily accessible to local French markets. The Gite itself is superbly appointed and furnished to an exceptionally high standard with all the facilities you could want. Fortunate to have fantastic weather with temperatures 30-41 degrees - so we were very appreciative of the air conditioning and the pool! Penny and Patrick are the perfect hosts making us so very welcome - Thank you!

We had a fantastic stay with Penny and Patrick. The gite really is fabulously appointed and there is everything you could possibly need for a great stay. Beautiful setting, the pool is excellent (and nice and long for proper swimmers!). The area is beautiful with plenty to see and do. Lots of great surrounding towns and villages. All in all we couldn't recommend it enough and look forward to our next chance to go and visit.

We have had the greatest stay this summer in the house of Penny and Patrick. The beautiful view and peaceful surroundings in this wine area made it a very relaxing and enjoyable holiday; just what we were looking for. It was clear they both have a feeling for great hospitality and did the greatest job in making us feel at home. Starting with the delicious food when we arrived, so that we could eat after arriving late. Besides the nice village Montcuq, there are lots of beautiful vineyards, a golf club and cities like Cahors nearby.

A great place for those in search of tranquillity, gorgeous countryside, sunset al-fresco dining and stylish comfort. Owners, Penny and Patrick, will help you discover the region's best food and wine producers, and keen cooks will love the well-equipped kitchen.
