The Experience
Escape here to Florence’s peaceful little ‘cabanon’ on a hill among fields and woods and forget the buzz and sophistication of the city. French windows make the single-storey cottage bright, and the living is easy between the bedroom and open-plan living area with its simple kitchen.
You have a little garden to sit out in and a plunge pool for cooling off. You’ll also find shade and birdsong under plane and chestnut trees. Florence leaves you wine and fruit; bring back good things from Aix’s fabulous food market to eat out on the patio. You can stroll along to a seafood restaurant in ten minutes; the Red Pepper restaurant is a bit closer and has music.
Discover Provençale treasures all around but do visit nearby St Maximin Abbey and the Grotte de Maria Magdalena; taste the wine and walk the vineyard trails at Château Lacoste – you eat well there too.

We had a lovely week at Le Mas des Anges. Florence was a wonderful host - she was so kind, friendly and helpful. We arrived at the beautifully furnished and very clean cottage to a welcome of wine, marmalade and jam. The cottage is in the grounds of Florence's large garden but still very private. It is a very peaceful and relaxing environment. The plunge pool was also a special place to enjoy. A lovely place to stay.

This is a perfect city retreat for exploring Aix-En-Provence and surrounding areas by day, relaxing in beautiful and quiet surroundings by night. Florence is a wonderful host (along with the dogs and cats). We had the most glorious week. The accommodation is private, extremely comfortable, and the perfect place for a romantic getaway.

Florence is a perfect host - welcoming, friendly, hospitable and considerate. She made us feel like family. The Mas des Anges is sublime - furnished and decorated with taste and elegance - well equipped and very comfortable. The setting is great - only 15 minutes from the centre of Aix but feels like deepest rural Provence. The house sits in a wonderful old garden surrounded by gorgeous mature trees and shrubbery. Wild flowers and butterflies abound. We had an all too brief stay - just three days - and spent our days exploring the area and our evenings under the stars.

We had a really nice time staying in Florence's little cottage. Florence was extremely helpful and went out of her way to make sure we had a nice trip. The cottage has been well renovated and has lots of character. It is in the grounds of Florence's house but is private. Visits from the cats and dogs were also very nice to receive! Getting into Aix is around a 30-40 min walk, and is quite convenient. The surrounding areas are very nice to visit and there is beautiful scenery. Overall, highly recommended!

Location
The neighbourhood
It feels like the country here – with only Florence’s house and her second little apartment in view. Yet a 30-40-minute walk has you in central Aix where Cézanne was born and Zola spent his youth. It’s a bustling, beautiful university city famous too for its markets and galleries, fountains and cafés on the Cours Mirabeau. There are two restaurants, one specializing in seafood, within 10 minutes’ walk. Château Lacoste is a 15-minute drive with vineyard walks and very good food.
Local points of interest from Florence Picolo
- We also have a 2nd apartment (35m2), w/ kitchenette, lounge & private garden, perfect if you're coming with friends or your teenagers. Ask for pricing and details!
- I named my house 'Mas des Anges' (House of Angels) without knowing the road name 'Bouenhoure' means road of happiness - so it's paradise!
- Spend an evening in the vineyards listening to a concert (classical music, jazz).
- Wander the paths of the magnificent Sainte Victoire mountain which sits above Aix.
- Visit Provence's beautiful villages, or the coast (30 min away) and its "calanques" where it is all blue, blue and beauty.
- Note that our 10m2 plunge pool is available for you from 10am till 7pm. Go and visit the superb "bastides" and their gardens.

Introducing
Florence Picolo
Elegant Florence, whose children are grown, lives in the next-door house with her cats and two large dogs. She’s passionate about her animals and the fine trees surrounding her home. She used to be a Parisian and worked for the famous designer David Hicks, then moved south when she had children. Having lived in different parts of France, renovated a number of houses and run an interior design shop in the centre of Aix, she has chosen to settle here and welcome guests to her garden ‘cabanon’.
We recently had a most enjoyable and relaxing week’s holiday at Le Mas des Anges which is beautifully furnished, very comfortable and ideally situated on the outskirts of Aix en Provence. Florence’s hospitality is first class; we had everything we needed and she made us very welcome and was extremely helpful making suggestions of places to visit. We visited some beautiful villages in the Luberon, enjoyed a boat trip from Cassis to see the calanques, as well as exploring Aix en Provence itself with it’s many fountains and restaurants. All in all a lovely holiday. We would love to return.
