The Experience

Château Val Joanis is a well-known wine domaine with south-facing views and landscaped gardens. You stay on the first and second floors of this imposing honey-coloured house: the open-plan living/dining area is vast with a beamed ceiling, English and French books, games in the cupboard and comfortable seating. A dining table for six sits in the sociable kitchen along with a large American fridge and ice dispenser, and a welcome pack of wine, seasonal fruits and olives.

Bedrooms, one on the first floor, the other two on the second, have gorgeous linen and garden views. You’ll sleep soundly in the profound peace disturbed only by birdsong. Wander along vast lawns to the beautiful pool, fenced by glass panels, or head to the owner’s landscaped garden with summer kitchen and terrace for evening drinks admiring the views.

Walk 20 minutes through vineyards to Villelaure for your morning croissants or two simple restaurants for good suppers.

Reviews

An amazing stay close to Luberon area and Aix en Provence. Breathtaking view from the terrace. A Perfect match for family in Provence. A fairy forest where you can have a walk. The house is big, perfectly furnished, very clean and it’s a welcoming place. The area is so huge that it is amazing for the kids to play outside. Definitely it will be the right place for your next holidays in Provence.

Julien, Cape Town

The apartment Coeur de Val Jo is spacious, comfortable and extremely well-equipped and the location is very attractive among the vineyards. There’s a gorgeous pool although we didn’t use it as it was late in the season. The garden dedicated to the apartment is intriguing but rather a long way from the building, so we used the small roof top terrace to watch the sun go down. Both Arnaud and his agent, Claude, were charming and helpful.

Leben wie Gott in Frankreich - Live like God in France is a German proverb and sums up the feelings you have staying at Coeur the Val Jo. We had a joyous week in early September. What a surprise to find the „secret garden“. Watching the sunset on the roof terrace with a glass of Rosé taking in the calm of the Luberon, while being in the vicinity of Aix, in the footsteps of Cézanne and Vasarely. Or enjoying the Sunday market at Saint Martin de la Brasque. The best is coming back to Arnaud’s fantastic place after a wonderful day out...

Anne, Munich

We spent a week at ValJo for our vacation and had the most wonderful experience. Arnaud is a charming and very attentive host. His directions for visiting the surroundings were perfect. This charming "Hameau" is tastefully decorated and equipped for our stay. Extremely quiet, beautiful, and peaceful. The big surprise a little further than the superb swimming pool was the magnificent private garden: a haven of peace and vegetation! We spent more time in it, with its small hut equipped with a kitchen, than in the Hameau... Thanks again Arnaud for this magical place that I highly recommend.

Arnica, Fontainebleau

We stayed in “Hameau de Val Joanis” at the end of May 2023 and we had the pleasure of being the first guests of this beautiful location. The house has kept all expectations: central location with respect to the places to visit, immersed in the greenery of the vineyards of the Chateau Val Joanis, large, spacious, well-finished house. A special mention to Arnaud, our host for the courtesy, availability, exceptional and sincere attention shown to us. Merci Arnaud

A beautifully bright, spacious two level apartment, part of a larger renovated 17C building, tucked quietly away amid the vineyards of a well known wine domaine, on the southern side of the Luberon Hills. As well as 3.5 hectares of communal grounds with shared pool you have your own large private garden complete with summer house and kitchen. Wide views. Classy most comfortable rural home

Location

The neighbourhood

Walks are endless in this deeply rural spot. Pertuis is the nearest town, 5km, for plenty of shops and restaurants. Cucuron, 8km, has a Michelin-starred restaurant, La Petite Maison. Lourmarin is 10km and has one of the best markets in the area each Friday morning, along with classy shops and places to eat. Aix-en-Provence, 20 minutes, has museums, art galleries and abundant shopping.

Local points of interest from Arnaud Leurent

  • Aix en Provence is just 20 minutes away. Drive to the Rotonde parking situated in the middle of the town and walk to this marvellous city full of shops, museums, bars and restaurants, fountains and so much more. You'll love it
  • The sea is not far away. Treat yourself with a day on the Bendore island or go to visit Marseille, its famous calanques and why not try a good fish restaurant I enjoy La Nautique on a deck surrounded by boats
  • You will of course visit all the beautiful Luberon villages https://luberon.fr/villages-du-sud-luberon.html. My favourite Ansouis is just 4km away but Cucuron is not to be missed. Not to mention the very chic Lourmarin.
  • Many sports and wellness activities are available around Val Joanis. There are 3 golf courses within 20 km but you will also find many offers for hiking, horse riding, biking, canoeing and much more https://www.luberon-sud-tourisme.fr/
  • Chateau Val Joanis is our neighbours, just 500m away. Walk there for their famous Wednesday Aperitifs from 6.30pm to 11 in July and August where you will find live music and food trucks. Test and buy their range of excellent wines.
  • Chateau La Coste is a famous place to go just across the Durance River. You will find there 5 restaurants (I love the Mallmann one) and a famous Artwork museum set in the wineyards https://chateau-la-coste.com/en/
