The Experience

Find several sitting rooms as well as an open-plan living/dining room and a gorgeous stone staircase leading to the upper floors – you’ll never feel on top of one another here. Comfy sofas, board games and books in French and English will ensure even the odd rainy day is fun, but mostly you’ll spend your time outdoors on a lounger by the big saltwater pool with views. Here you’ll find shaded seating areas and a huge open-sided outdoor kitchen, a vine-clad pergola and a plancha grill. Safe bike storage and a fine utility room are handy.

Bedrooms, one downstairs with its own sitting room and the rest on the first and second floors, have en suite bathrooms (except for two bedrooms which share), fans and mosquito nets, crisp white sheets and lovely views. The indoor kitchen has plenty of kit, an American fridge/freezer with ice dispenser, separate wine fridge and enough space for several guests to cook together.

There’s a small supermarket just a ten-minute drive away at Saint-Pierre-de-Vassols.

Reviews

An authentic slice of real Provence in a farmhouse situated amid vineyards, fields and woods yet only 3km in each direction to the interesting villages of Bédoin and Mormoiron with weekly markets, cafés and shops. Spacious en suite bedrooms and living areas. Cooks will love the kitchen, both inside and out. There are delightful garden spaces for apéros and a huge pool with views.

Location

The neighbourhood

It feels remote as there are no neighbours, but you're only 3km from Bédoin (lots of restaurants, shops, cafés and a Monday market) and Mormoiron (Sunday market, a small lake, accrobranche and a skateboard park). There are many wine domains nearby for tasting and buying, and some super restaurants like Les Remparts in Venasque, a 20-minute drive.

Local points of interest from Rebecca Keane

  • Bédoin is a picturesque Provençal village at the foot of Mont Ventoux, just 35km east of Avignon. Best known as the legendary starting point for the famous climb of the "Giant of Provence," it attracts cyclists from around the world.
  • There are lots of local Provence markets including one in the local town of Bédoin on a Monday, and several a week at L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue – well known for its antique shops and vintage markets.
  • There are many historic villages and towns such as Le Barroux with a medieval château and sweeping Comtat plain views, Crillon-le-Brave – a quiet perched village with panoramic Mont Ventoux views.
  • From mid-June to mid-August there are beautiful lavender fields such as the one at the 12th-century Sènanque Abbey near Gordes, or the lavender farms of Sault.
  • Swim or kayak on the river Sorgue or visit the source at the Fontaine de Vaucluse, the largest karst spring in France. Located in the village of Fontaine-de-Vaucluse, the spring gushes from the foot of a 230-metre-high cliff.
  • It’s a beautiful area for walking from gentle ambling in the valley Roussillon – famous for its red and orange ochre cliffs and colourful façades or trekking in the Dentelles de Montmirail, a small chain of distinct shaped mountains in the foothills of Mont Ventoux.
