The Experience

For seekers of garden peace, for champagne and architecture buffs… A leafy retreat from crazed Paris, this gorgeous home is cool, quiet and stylishly homely. Its 200-year-old origins are celebrated: limewash, timbers, country antiques, a gathering of books. Bedrooms have pretty colours, vintage linen and patchwork charm, the adorable cottage (with kitchen) is ideal for a longer stay. Véronique makes jams and offers pâtisserie courses; she’s happy to spend time chatting over apéritifs and dinner is a choice of three menus, finishing with local cheeses and homemade desserts. Champagne vineyards and historic Provins are nearby.

Reviews

I cannot praise Véronique and Le Close De La Rose enough. The property is stunning, very clean and a complete haven of peace and tranquility. We would have loved to stay longer, but were on our way home. Véronique was on hand for anything, produced a lovely dinner and welcomed us with a refreshing drink on arrival. Local champagne, in Champagne, as an aperifit was a lovely end to our trip. Stunning walks nearby with our dogs too.

We only spent a night in this delightful spot en route through France. We had a lovely welcome from Veronique who was a perfect host. The house is very attractive with lovely rustic style comfortable rooms and a large garden with plenty of seating areas to enjoy the peace and charm. Breakfast and dinner were both delicious , everything homemade by Veronique. We would love to stay again and would recommend to others.

A charming and welcoming property. Véronique was very welcoming. Our room was fresh, airy and very comfortable. Dinner and breakfast were delicious. Would definitely recommend this property if you wish peace, charm and a homely welcome.

What a lovely place! We stayed in the cottage la Rose de Provins, which is very well appointed and offers great privacy. Our hosts treated us very well with lovely food, wines and champagne. As it was extremly hot during our stay we had dinner outside under the trees, which was really nice. The main building is also beautiful, with a great ambiance. Certainly a place to stay again!

We have found Veronique and Brendan at Le Clos de la Rose to be wonderful hosts. The setting is very calm and tranquil and the furnishings a beautifully presented French shabby chic. Veronique's home cooking is delicious with her well-honed culinary skills very much appreciated by all around the table. We had already booked a macaroon workshop before arrival and spent the morning learning new skills under Veronique's guidance in her family kitchen. We were delighted with the relaxed manner with which Veronique revealed the secrets to success and we thoroughly recommend it.

This beautiful house set in the Champagne area just 40 mins from Paris is a wonderful place to stay. On arrival, Veronique served tea for us in the garden which was the start of a wonderful stay. Dinner was excellent, Veronique is a patissiere and teaches, her macaroons were to die for. Brendan was charming and the 5 children polite and equally delightful. The room was beautifully furnished and well equipped. A walk before dinner with the dog in the nearby forest gave us an appetite. Well organised and charming, tghis is an excellent place to stay, we are sorry it was only for one night.

Amazing that there are not more comments about this excellent place, a haven of peace in the middle of a beautiful garden. The welcome from the busy Veronique was charm itself, Brendan was kind enough to greet me specially on his return home after a busy day's work, and the food was truly delicious, both at dinner and breakfast. Wish I could have stayed longer.

Chris

Our regretfully brief stay in Véronique and Brendan's wonderful guesthouse was an oasis of peace and luxury in a busy weekend - it was truly a joy to stay there! They were nothing but welcoming and accommodating, and the food was all excellent and very tasty (both breakfast and dinner). The room (and house) were all decorated beautifully and were very comfortable - very relaxing. Le Clos de la Rose was an exquisite place to stay, and one I can heartily recommend. My only regret is that we could only stay for two nights - this place is truly special!
