The Experience

Let the willows weep over the village pond; you go through the high gate into a sheltered paradise. The prettiest rooms have masses of old pieces, dolls, books, pictures to intrigue you, a chirruping garden with two rescue dogs to play with and the most caring hostess to provide an exceptional brunch. Have dinner too if you can (Catherine teaches cookery and sources locally: it’s delicious). The miniature garden house is a lovers’ dream: tiny salon downstairs, bedroom sporting superb bath up. Fulsome towels, extras of all sorts: charming, chatty Catherine thinks of everything.

Reviews

I simply cannot speak too highly of Catherine and l'ombre blue. The room I had was extraordinary - made me feel like a member of Louis the Sun King's court! The bath particullry is fit for a queen. Bed comfortable, towels big and soft. The garden is delightful and the meals we enjoyed there were delicious. as were the very generous breakfasts, in a fabulous beamed kitchen. Catherine is charming, kind, welcoming and full of suggestions for places to visit. Chartres and Giverny are within reach - I visited both. what more can I say except it's on my list for a definite revisit!

L' ombre bleu is a lovely place, Catherine is a very generous host and the breakfast and dinner were excellent. We enjoyed it so much. This place is highly recommended and we will definitly return.

A few years ago, we heard about Catherine’s B&B thanks to her son whom we met for Tourism purpose (we also run a B&B!). Driving back from Paris after an exhausting day, we needed a quiet and safe spot before going home... and remembered there was such a place on our way. Catherine prepared us a charming bedroom and an exquisite dinner. Needless to say that we chatted a lot about our hosting experiences;) Located in a tiny village, just in front of a pond, her house and garden are lovely, full of heartful treasures, reflecting Catherine’s spirit. So many thanks to her for taking care of us<3

The welcome we received immediately dispelled the gloom bought on by rain on the first day of our holiday. This was supposed to be a sun-drenched escape from a rain-filled UK 'summer'. Our host, another guest (who stays regularly - and why wouldn't you?), my husband and I shared a magical evening of lovely food and drink, jolly conversation that mixed our dreadful French and their great English, and so much laughter. Such generosity. Thank you.

Marie, Loxhore
