The Experience
Inside is spacious, simple, modern, and free of clutter, so the atmosphere is calm and restful. Big windows show off stunning views of the Langhe countryside – in winter you can sit by the wood-burner, play a board game or watch TV, and on sunny days you’ll be out on the terrace with a glass of local wine waiting for magical sunsets.
Bedrooms, one double and a twin, have sliding doors to the garden, thick mattresses and wool pillows. Sitting up in bed looking at the views will be a gorgeous start to your day. The bathroom has a walk-in shower – all tickety-boo. The open-plan kitchen is sleek, you’re left some essentials and there’s a decent coffee machine.
Eat outdoors on the terrace, fire up the barbecue, enjoy the tranquillity of the garden with its walnut, pear, apple, cherry and olive trees. A 15-minute walk will take you into Roccaverano for a good restaurant (Osteria del Bramante) if you prefer not to cook.

Location
The neighbourhood
This is beautiful countryside and not overrun with tourists. Roccaverano, famous for its goat's cheese, has a wonderful medieval square, castle and church, plus a good restaurant, Osteria Bramante. Agriturismo Borghetto La Radice is another good place to eat, in the hills outside the village. San Giorgio Scarampi (a nine minute drive) has an excellent restaurant, A Testa in Giù.
Local points of interest from Anna-Belle & René
- Lovely walks and bike rides begin right at the house. The hills around Roccaverano open up to changing views and small hilltop villages. When the sky is clear, you can even see the French and Italian Alps shimmering in the distance.
- Enjoy the flavours of Piedmont: stroll to the village for lunch or dinner on the medieval square, or linger over a long lunch overlooking the vineyards. Within a 10-minute drive you'll find several culinary gems. We're happy to share our favourites.
- Barolo is a short drive away, but close to Roccaverano you can visit small, characterful wineries. The quiet backroads take you to lovely hidden places off the beaten track. Local winemakers are always happy to welcome visitors.
- Begin with cappuccino and brioche at Acqui Terme's market, browse local produce and enjoy lunch in town. Return to Casa Vista Collina for a lazy afternoon in the garden. On Sundays, nearby antique markets brim with charming, unexpected discoveries.
- Discover medieval villages nearby, such as Roccaverano, Mombaldone and Montechiaro d'Alto, authentic places off the beaten track. For larger towns with good amenities, Acqui Terme, Canelli, Nizza Monferrata and Alba are wonderful to visit.
- The Mediterranean is just 1 hour and 15 minutes away. Explore the charming coastal towns of Noli and Varigotti, wander through colourful lanes or walk the Ligurian hills along olive groves and quiet paths, always with the sea in view.
