The Experience

Hop on the ferry at Milazzo and jet off to Vulcano, one of a cluster of seven islands, in the Sicilian Eolie archipelago. Or get the overnight ferry from Naples; either way it’s an adventure to get here. The house is white and boxy with bright blue shutters in typical Eolian style, deliciously simple and reminiscent of a Greek island abode. It clings to the hillside with endless sea views stretching out at the front and is surrounded by a tropical garden. Inside a minimalist style with a touch of nautical shabby chic works a treat and doesn’t detract from those views for a minute. Enter the light, luminous open-plan corner kitchen where chef can cook up a storm; you eat on the long covered terrace. The living room has a white sofa and armchair, small TV and books to borrow. There are two calming bedrooms (one double, one twin) on this level and one below which is accessed by external stairs and has its own bathroom. The fourth bedroom with ensuite shower room is in the former stable. There’s plenty of active stuff to do here: hike the volcano, go diving, rent a boat to explore the other islands. The perfect house and destination for independent spirited types.

Reviews

Bailly, Paris

Idyllic location, at the tip of the island of Vulcano - you're in wilderness, beach reachable on foot, sea landscape, panoramic mountain views, family-run trattoria on foot - the environment is perfect for great peace and quiet, the house is superbly equipped and very pleasant with many terraces. I went back for the second year with my teenage children, because it's a flawless beauty! Francesca, the owner, is great at communicating and sharing her home, which she adores and in which you can feel at home in the company of others. I just love it!

Barbara Leda, Rome

The house is in a beautiful location, has an astonishing view, is fully furnished for family time and the sun deck with whirlpool is a plus. The house is just a walk from the Gelso small beach and very close to Asino beach (the most beautiful of the island). The Vulcano island is small and wild, landscapes are incredible and unique, dominated by the Vulcano, the island is never too crowded (even in very high season) as it does not have many houses or hotels, and that makes it a relaxing and exclusive destination. We really enjoyed our time at Francesca’s house!

Sophie, Paris

A little corner of paradise, "at the end of the world", the house is at the end of the island in a sublime environment (sea and nature), beach, family trattoria...easy living to recharge your batteries under the Sicilian sun. We loved it! Francesca is very responsive and super friendly.

Eleonora, Rome

Amazing location, a dream house. You can spend here days just breathing beauty. A true eolian style, close to clear water

Andrea, Torino

Are you looking for a true immersive experience in Mediterranean nature and islands? That is the place, that is the house! Every morning you wake up and from the terrace you embrace the horizon over the northern Sicilian coast and the mount Etna. Conversely after dinner you drink a glass of wine and look at the sky full of stars with the Milky Way in the middle. It is not a dream, it is the reality of a house located in a wonderful place.
