Wander down to the popular swimming platform (150m): bask on the rocks and splash in the sea. This elevated flat has the old town on one side and the sea on the other.
Giuseppina’s townhouse, Palazzo Colpace, was re-built in the 1800s. Climb three storeys to find your sleek spacious retreat: a spotless sitting room and an excellent kitchen off the hall, and two simple bedrooms with balconies… the smaller one overlooking the sea. Fling open the French windows to the terrace; enjoy an aperitivo in the breeze.
Saunter around the streets of Ortigia, the ancient ‘island’ of Siracusa. The town’s landmarks span from Ancient Greek times to late baroque, and the 18th-century Duomo is a six-minute stroll. Laze by the bars in the harbour, and watch the yachts pass by.
