I am stepping into a living painting that covers half a millennium of history. I sit down indoors and my senses imbibe the atmosphere of comfort, permanence and humility. It feels like an honour to be in such surroundings. A sense of gratitude for life itself and all its wonders and creativity comes over me. I step out into the garden, take in the view near and far and say yes, thank you.
