The Experience

Set in a Mediterranean garden and with spellbinding sea views are the 19th-century main house, very stylish wooden cabins, and super glamping tents with decking and micro pools – it’s a creative haven with a wonderful flow and harmony. Uneven paths wind through fabulously relaxing gardens planted with a hundred exotic trees; there’s a painting hut, shop and restaurant too.

You breakfast on the magnificent terrace in summer with its gorgeous views: much is homegrown in a buffet of sweet and savouries including home-baked bread and their own honey. Bedrooms are cool, Asian-chic and luxurious, bathrooms are astonishingly lush and the big, open-plan, parquet-floored suites have magnificent terraces and ingenious wardrobes opening to mini-kitchens.

Lunches and dinners in the restaurant are delicious – contemporary Italian with everything either homegrown or sourced from very nearby. No need to go anywhere once you’re here, except for perhaps a gentle walk.

The second I arrived at Poggio Ai Santi I felt an immediate sense of harmony and connection with nature and my part in it . A simultaneous blend of peace and play came upon me. Walking through the endlessly inventive gardens that carpet the hillside I felt like I am now a neophite in a wonderland of delight and curiosity. A smile broke out upon my face and I said to myself - this feels like home.

The neighbourhood

You're surrounded by pine forests for some lovely walks. The nearest town is San Vincenzo, 3km, and set on the coast, with boats to admire, long sandy beaches, shops and restaurants. Baratti beach is one of the most beautiful in Tuscany with crystal-clear waters. Hop on a ferry to Elba, visit medieval hilltop town Castagneto Carducci, explore architectural gems in Populonia.

The Etruscan Coast is a long narrow stretch of coastline along Tuscany's coast. The name of this beautiful coastal area is tied to the presence of the Etruscan civilization that inhabited this area from the start of the 9th century BC(way before the Roman)
The Val di Cornia, in Tuscany, begins with the Etruscan bearing witness to centuries history. A story told within the two archaeological parks, natural parks, three museums, and several lovely beaches in the areas south of the province of Livorno.
The vineyards of the Etruscan Coast produce prestigious wines. In the Bolgheri area and its surroundings, some of the best Tuscan wines renowned around the world are produced. The Super Tuscan Sassicaia is probably the most famous.
Sport and outdoor activitiesYou have many opportunities on the Etruscan Coast. Surf, kite surf, wind surf, horse riding and fishing. On the inland there are lots of itineraries for bike and hiking lovers in the beautiful pinewoods or forests.
Val di Cornia offers an incredibly developed and gratifying trail network to practice Mountain Biking. Itineraries on both the region’s internal hills and along the Piombino Promontory and its beaches will satisfy your thirst of tracks at all levels.
Hot springsIf you wish to rest in hot waters, you can enjoy the thermal lake in Venturina and Sassetta. They are private establishments.

Francesca is an artist, an excellent communicator and a born networker. She's also deeply committed to on-site food production, with an allotment, fruits and olive trees. They are members of a local agriturismo food consortium which gives them access to many additional eco-conscious concerns, from food production to the pooling of equipment.
