The Experience

In the heart of one of Europe’s oldest towns, this delightful Moorish house reveals sweeping views over rooftops, rolling fields and the distant, glittering Atlantic. On clear days, you can glimpse Morocco’s Atlas Mountains. Discover the ancient cave tucked behind the central patio, part of a tunnel network running beneath the town – if only the walls could talk.

You’ll feel at home with five en suite bedrooms (all with fans, air con and shutters for restful sleep) spread across two floors. Enjoy the plunge pool, U-shaped kitchen, two sitting rooms and inviting outdoor spaces. Siesta on the roof terrace after a dip then dine under the stars. You can also eat on the sheltered first-floor terrace.

Step outside and meander through winding streets to lively tapas bars dotted around the main square. Visit the tranquil 16th-century church next door, head to lovely beaches, hit the sherry triangle or take a day trip to flamenco-filled Cádiz.

Reviews

An Arabic gem in the south of Spain as per the tradition in Andalusia and Medina. A beautiful place to stay with a group of friends or family, enjoying the slow and typical life of the village. A mix of European and Arabic traditions.

Location

The neighbourhood

Watch flocks of birds, including lesser kestrels, swoop across the sky as you enjoy your sundowner on the terrace and the sun melt over the Bay of Cádiz – there can't be a better spot. Climb the bell tower of the adjacent church for even more spectacular views. Visit the sherry towns of Jerez, El Puerto de Santa María and Sanlúcar de Barrameda, or spend a day on the beach at Santi Petri or Vejer.

Local points of interest from Kirsty Broomhall

  • Just a short stroll from the house, explore the castle ruins and enjoy 360° views of rolling countryside. At over 400m above sea level, it’s easy to see why the Romans and Moors chose this stunning spot for its beauty and strategic advantage.
  • Time stands still in this historic town. Sip a cold beer, savour local tapas, and watch generations gather in the square—chatting, laughing, children playing. A glimpse of how life used to be, when we still made time for each other.
  • Discover the rich history and culture of Jerez, home of sherry, flamenco, and passion. Visit a local bodega to taste world-famous sherry, then feel the duende come alive at an evening flamenco show. An unforgettable glimpse into the soul of Andalucía.
  • Explore the vibrant seafaring city of Cádiz, Europe’s oldest. With centuries of trade to the Americas, its historic streets buzz with life. Enjoy fresh fish, lively tapas bars and a golden beach. Authentic, noisy, sun-soaked and full of character.
  • Known as the Coast of Light, the beaches within 30 mins of Medina are truly special. From hidden coves to endless stretches of golden sand, there’s something for everyone—sunseekers, walkers and surfers alike. Wild, beautiful and bathed in sunlight.
  • Perched on a nearby hilltop, our sister village Vejer de la Frontera invites you to wander its cobbled streets, enjoy an alfresco lunch in the main square, then head down to the beach at El Palmar for a sundowner in one of its many beach bars.
