How to use our new accessibility filters

Working with disabled people and experts in the field, we’ve redesigned our accessibility filters. The idea is to move away from considering something simply accessible or not, towards a detailed breakdown of a place’s features and facilities which allows guests to make their own well-informed decisions about a place’s suitability and book with confidence.
Here’s the list of new filters and how we define them:
Step-free guest entrance: There are no steps or thresholds greater than 5cm for access to the accommodation.
Step-free path to guest entrance: There are no steps or thresholds greater than 5cm, and no significant slope, on the path to the accommodation entrance.
Guest entrance wider than 81cm: The entrance to the accommodation is at least 81cm wide.
Accessible parking space: There is a private parking space at least 3.6m wide available, or a designated and clearly signposted disabled parking bay.
Step-free bedroom access: There are no steps or thresholds greater than 5cm from the entrance to at least one bedroom.
Bedroom entrance wider than 81cm: The entrance or doorway to one or more bedrooms is at least 81cm wide.
Step-free bathroom access: There are no steps or thresholds greater than 5cm from the entrance to at least one bathroom.
Bathroom entrance wider than 81cm: The entrance or doorway to one or more bathrooms is at least 81cm wide.
Step-free shower: There are no steps thresholds greater than 2.5cm to get into the shower.
Shower & toilet grab bars: Both shower and toilet have at least one grab bar that can fully bear weight.
Shower or bath chair: The shower or bath have a seat suitable for guests with limited mobility.
Ceiling or mobile hoist: There is a hoist or other device available to lift someone in and out of a wheelchair.
Hearing loop: There are clearly signposted hearing loops available in common areas.
Subtitles available on televisions: Subtitles can be selected on any guest televisions.
Guest information in large print/braille: Safety information and any other information given to guests is available in large print format or braille.
Using the new filters
The accessibility filters live with all the other filters under the Sort & Refine button on our search page. Simply select your chosen accessibility filters, along with any others you might want, and hit ‘Apply’. So, you can search for a dog-friendly place with an EV charger, a wood burner and a pub within 3 miles, which also has a step-free bathroom.
