The Experience
You’ll feel at home the minute you walk in – this is a lovely house for families or groups of friends to relish their time together and have fun. Picture windows show off far-reaching views and there are plenty of places from which to admire them – a comfy sitting room, conservatory, open-plan kitchen and dining room and a separate snug. You shouldn’t ever need to feel on top of one another here.
Four bedrooms upstairs have goose down, crisp cotton and more of those views – lovely to sit in bed with a morning cuppa and watch the weather unfurl. Even if you’re stuck indoors you’ll feel relaxed here. The well-stocked family kitchen is a sociable spot for cooks and everyone can join in. You’re left a hamper of bits and bobs but it’s a short walk to Pendeen for stocking up.
Join the rugged Coast Path from the garden gate, hop into the wood-fired hot tub, fire up the barbecue in the garden while children safely gambol.

Captains House Penzance, is a beautifully located old house. We have just had an amazing week staying here. The kitchen is well equipped, there is an huge conservatory running with width of the house, with absolutely fabulous views. We had wild Cornish weather for some of the days, it was so cozy sitting in there drinking coffee and eating cake, it was also lovely using the hot tub in the wild weather. Cherry on the top WAITROSE deliver to here😀

This amazing house is situated on a spectacular headland with far reaching views. It's beautifully furnished with stylish kitchen and huge four poster bed. The sun lounge is a wonderful addition with views towards the sea. Added bonus is the South West Coast Path close by for walkers. Highly recommended

The Captain's House is the perfect retreat from busy life. We spent one week in Dec enjoying the breath-taking scenery. Blustery winter walks combined with total relaxation at the house were the perfect antidote to the usual 9-5. The house is superbly equipped: lazy-boy armchairs with a commanding view of the sea and coast, wood-fired hot tub, excellent kitchen and wonderful comfy rooms. Pendeen is the perfect balance of isolated but convenient (pub, shops, etc.) and it's easy to get to nearby popular spots. Stay at the Captain's House and live your best Poldark life - you won't regret it!

Location
The neighbourhood
You're at the end of a long single-track road which ends shortly after the houses. You face dramatic cliffs and the sea in each direction apart from east which faces fields. Pendeen is a 15-minute walk for a farmers' market, pubs and a small grocery shop. St Just is a 10-minute drive, Newlyn and Penzance about 15 minutes. Beautiful beaches are plentiful for a day with a picnic.
Local points of interest from Patrick & Sue
- The South West coastal path is directly opposite the front gate - head off through tin mining country to Cape Cornwall and Sennen.
- To the South, the house looks towards Levant Mine, made famous in "Poldark". To the North, Gurnard's Head is clearly visible - 2 1/2 hours' walk (Stop for refreshment at the Gurnard's Head pub, then catch the Lands End Breezer open-top bus back to Pendeen).
- Mermaid's Pool, a local swimming hole, is 10 minutes' walk, just by the tiny Boat Cove. 15 minutes further on is the spectacular and little-visited Portheras beach. Several other "secret" swimming places are listed in the welcome folder at the house.
- West Cornwall is renowned for its proliferation of ancient monuments - check out Lanyon Quoit, Carn Euny and the stone circle at Bostraze to name but a few and all within 10 minutes' drive.
- The Captain's House was built for the Captain of the coastguard whose main job was apprehending smugglers - there is a cellar (now sealed) at the property, where all the contraband was stored after confiscation.
- Sit in the conservatory and watch the birds on the feeding station - bird food supplied. We've seen ravens, kestrels, peregrines and even the elusive Cornish chough pass by our windows!

Introducing
Patrick & Sue
Patrick and Sue have owned the house for many years. They have a background in restaurants and catering, and run a much-loved little haunt in Bristol. This is their holiday home too so it's very family friendly and much of the art on the walls is by Sue, an accomplished artist. You let yourselves in but there is a local person handy if you need help.
Beautiful house in wonderful location. The panoramic views from the house and hot-tub did not disappoint.
