The Experience
Everything at Venton Vean is tip-top. Immensely helpful owners Philippa and David moved from London with their family and have transformed a dilapidated Victorian house into a supremely cool and elegant B&B. Moody colours, mid-century design classics and interesting reclamation finds make for a stunning and eclectic interior. Food is a passion – expect freshly ground coffee in your room and some of the most tantalising breakfasts around: Mexican, Spanish, even a good old full English will have you dashing down in the morning. Arty Penzance is a joy as is the craggy-coved beauty all around.

Loving attention to detail at each turn coupled with warm, creative, knowledgeable, & supremely helpful hosts. Beautiful signwriting on the gate & a charming garden set the discerning tone. Interesting, artistic decoration & furnishings in generously proportioned, uncluttered rooms created an air of fresh, welcoming calm & comfort. Breakfast was a delight of fine fruits, breads, smoked fish & outstanding homemade preserves. The hosts’ thoughtful, well-written local guide tempts me to return to up & coming Penzance & explore surrounding parishes. Thanks too for free Netflix!

I absolutely agree with everything you say. Breakfasts were delicious, especially the perfect smoked haddock with poached egg. The haddock came from Newlyn Fish Company, and Philippa made us a map to find it, and we were able to take marvellously fresh Cornish fish home.

An excellent B&B. Welcome was wonderful and decor lovely. Breakfast was excellent and the service even extended to buying in English mustard and de caffeinated coffee for the second day after our request on day one. Would definitely return.

My stay at Venton Vean was lovely, and I highly recommend it for your West Cornwall holiday. The location is perfect for exploring Penzance, as the town centre and harbor are just a short walk away. All of West Cornwall is easily accessible as well. Venton Vean is a wonderfully restored Victorian on a lovely street, with high ceilings, lovely large rooms, and modern but elegant furnishings. The owner, Philppa, is very helpful with ideas and suggestions for activities and restaurants in the area. The breakfasts are delicious-ask for her homemade fig jam! And don't miss their beautiful gardens!
