The Experience

The cottage retains its granite barn feel with a large open plan dining and sitting room, a kitchen area with Everhot stove, a separate shower room downstairs and, up on the mezzanine floor, a very comfortable, light and airy bedroom. A wood-burner with unlimited logs, games to play and a TV mean dull weather days can still be fun. You’ll find everything you need in the kitchen and a very generous welcome hamper with a cream tea and your breakfast for the next morning.

Outdoors you have your own little patio and lawn which feel very private but explore further and you’ll find a shared barbecue area in the potager garden (with fresh produce for guests in season), greenhouse, orangery and pool. Stride out on lovely walks from the door, bring binoculars to watch many birds, hire bikes for days out with a picnic, find a good food pub at Perranuthnoe.

Even though there are other holiday cottages there are plenty of private spaces to find in the pretty gardens.

Ennys has been a special place in our lives over numerous years and our welcome from Karen and Nick could not have been more generous. The Well Cottage is beautifully thought out and and was perfect for our week long stay. From the welcome hamper on arrival to the wonderful surroundings of the gardens and pool, Ennys really is a perfect location for a very relaxing holiday - our stay was as memorable as ever! A really beautifully thought out and put-together studio cottage in the heart of the beautiful countryside, the extras like the pool add a touch of glamour and luxury. Everything has been thought of to provide a really low effort and comfy stay and when I visited I didn't want to leave!

Another Wonderful holiday in Cornwall staying at Ennys. Can't fault the place hence why we always return. Nick and Karen and the 2 dogs are lovely hosts and are very accommodating. The peaceful surroundings speak for themselves but within reach of the North and Atlantic coast lines and beautiful walks. Personally liked the welcome food basket filled with locally produced bread, meat and homemade scones! Accommodation is immaculate with everything you need for a relaxing holiday. Hope to be back next year!

Location

The neighbourhood

You're up a long farm track so the feel is very rural and quiet. Gwithian beach is a 10-minute drive, the South West Coast Path can be joined nearby for stunning walks in either direction. The nearest towns are Penzance, seven miles and Hayle, six miles. Both have beaches, restaurants and shops. St Ives is 10 miles for the Tate, Barbara Hepworth museum and sculpture garden, lots of places to eat.

Local points of interest from Karen West

Visit St Michaels Mount at low tide. Walk the Causeway in the moonlight. Or join the South West Coastal path and explore the Tin Coast and Zennor for a more bracing walk.
Swim at nearby romantic Prussia Cove with its secluded coves or the sandy beach of Perranuthnoe. Admire the dramatic scenery and the historic mining history of West Penwith. Learn to surf at Godrevy overlooking the lighthouse, or kitesurfing at Marazion.
Within a few miles of Ennys, enjoy delicious dishes at The Gurnard's Head near Zennor, sip great wines at St Eia in St Ives or choose from a number of interesting places to eat in pretty Mousehole.
Drive to Porthleven for a selection of pubs/ shops/galleries, cafes /restaurants including Kota, Kota Kai or Origin Coffee Roastery with its summer pop ups and growing reputation for great coffee, uber tasty food and delicious cocktails.
Book tickets for a play at the breathtaking open-air Minack theatre with its broad sweeping ocean views. Tour the galleries of St Ives, including the Tate and Barbara Hepworth museum and don't forget to drop in at the Leach Pottery too while you are there.
Visit National Trust property Godolphin House, Glendurgan Gardens, Trengwainton Gardens and the Penrose Estate. The Lizard peninsula and famous Kynance Cove are a short drive away.

Introducing

Karen West

Karen and Nick moved to Cornwall having spent holidays here and gradually being drawn to the area. They initially lived near Truro before deciding to make West Cornwall their permanent home. They fell in love with Ennys at first sight and continue to develop and nurture it. This is a calming place to stay with a huge amount of history - do ask Karen and Nick about it.
