The Experience
Country lovers will feel at home at this just-renovated barn, on a working farm in walking country – as will families with young children. The two storeys where farmer and sheep were housed and hay and wool kept dry, have become a large, light and airy open-plan space, with soft white walls and new oak floors. Bedrooms and bathrooms are downstairs, off a limestone floor’d hall; the living area is under the vaulted ceiling above. There are velux windows in the roof, as well as large deep-silled ones, and views on every side of hills sprinkled with sheep. There’s a wood-burner in the chimney breast, the furniture is solid and new, the kitchen gleams with black granite and steel, the bedrooms have fresh flowers and top quality everything, and the bathrooms, smartly tiled from floor to ceiling, have soaps and shampoo from the Sedbergh Soap Company. Logs and a generous welcome pack of award-winning local produce are on the house, and Rachel, who loves to meet and greet, is full of plans for courses, from cookery to dry stone walling. The garden has oak furniture, wood-fired hot tub, a fire pit and BBQ – at the end you’ll find a rope swing.

A truly stunning holiday cottage tastefully converted with all the luxuries to make it a home from home stay. The cottage is ideally located on a working farm with amenities within a short drive. The owners and family are always so happy and accommodating. this is an amazing magical place where you can immerse your self in the peace and tranquility or get stuck in helping on the farm. The cottage and the surroundings set you up for a wonderful experience but the attention to detail and the extra little touches make your visit extra special. This is where the family memories will be made.

A gorgeous cottage in a wonderful setting. The owner is more than happy to take time with the children introducing them to the lambs. The accommodation is exceptionally clean and well appointed, with a lovely log fire and snug. All bedrooms are en-suite and we have already booked our return!

This was our 3rd holiday to Stay Lambing Live and already can’t wait for our 4th! The cottage is beautiful, comfy & cosy especially with the log fire going. The Marstens are such great hosts and a pleasure to spend time with. We all love getting stuck in with any jobs on the farm, particularly this last visit during lambing season where we had the unforgettable experience of delivering lambs and bottle feeding them. We honestly can’t recommend the holiday enough (the only worry is more people find out about it and we can’t get booked in!!)

Beautiful converted barn in a stunning location overlooking the hills. Warm underfloor heating, cosy fires & plenty of space for a family of 5. Delicious food hamper on arrival, Rachel & family were so friendly & welcoming. Our 7 & 5 year old loved to help feed the sheep & cows. The hot tub including stargazing was magical. A fantastic walk along a disused railway crossing two viaducts is very near the property & perfect for a pushchair. Ullswater (Lake District) was easily accessible by car (40 min journey). A delicious roast lunch at the Black Swan Hotel in Ravenstonedale, highly recommend!

Our two weeks in this lovely barn flew by. The bedrooms were super cosy, the bathrooms were elegant and we spent lots of great family time upstairs in the lounge and dining areas. There were so many special attentions like fresh country flowers in each room, local toileteries and a hamper of tasty regional produce. The views from the barn are wonderful and time in the garden and hot tub was ever so relaxing. There is so much to do in the area in terms of hikes and places to visit. One of our best moments was spending time with the welcoming owners as they worked with their sheep and cows.
